Actually Edukator is one I would like to meet. I shall turn upon his doorstep one day "evil laugh"
I'd be worried that meeting people in real life would destroy the magic.
and Liverpool provides a venue

Are they relieved, or disappointed to remain anonymous?
Weird mix of both tbh!
probably says that we have more in common than we disagree about
I’m far more likely to argue the toss on the net with someone that I agree with on most things.
Slight derailment but do you ever meet people whilst you’re out and about, have a little chat and think they could be from here? I always want to ask but if they aren’t it would be weird to explain.
It crosses my mind every single time someone rides past me on something mildly better than a Supermarket Special.
Like the last kid to get picked in PE.
That was never me.
I was "well, it's Cougar or the fat kid, so I suppose we'll have to take Cougar." That should be my epitaph, "Penultimate Kid To Be Picked At PE."
Binners. In the Rose and Crown, Ramsbottom. I’d bring a copy of the Guardian
Worst game of Cluedo ever.

Oddly enough me too. Though for some reason it always seems to be a roadie who smiles/nods on the way past, odd in that im on an mtb, and roadies are, well roadies.
Perhaps its recognized faces when out at wheelcraft or some such place.
Erm, probably anyone, I don't spend enough time on here to know any of you that well. The ones I have met have been through sales/wants.
Met quite a few forumites back when the MBR forum was still a thing. All very nice people, except one, he was a miserable arsehole online and a thoroughly miserable arsehole in real life. I still keep in touch with a few of them and we meet up when we can.
Got an approving nod from a roadie looking race whippet in Tesco the other day when I was wearing my ST Lockdown tee-shirt.
Assumed he recognised the design, rather than he found me attractive, I should add.
I’d go for a drink with most of you. This place is mainly populated by people who’ll help out strangers and show compassion to people they’ve never met. I’m judging most of you are pretty nice.
Same here, how people are IRL can be totally different to their online presence but their core values are the same. There's been countless examples of compassion and kindness shown on here over the years that it's hard to believe that anyone on here is anything other than a reasonable person in reality. I know there are lots of arguments going on on different threads all the time but I genuinely believe that if those same people met in a room and sat down to discuss it then the argument would turn into a decent discussion instead. The ones I've met have all turned out to be normal people so far!

A few times now I've overheard conversations between other riders and knew they had to be members on here from what they are saying! Recognised a few people from their bike or car too, even had a couple come up to me and ask if reluctantjumper meant anything to me while out in the Mini a few weeks ago! They had read the thread and recognised the car but they're not even a member on here and I forgot their names so couldn't give them a shout out.

Same here, have no idea who you're hinting at... 🤣
Does remind me though that a North Wales trip is in order, had too many Facebook reminders about Revs and Antur the last few days! The Chatel ones will begin in earnest next week!
I’ve also met quite a few other forumites, many of whom are now absent from here. Makes you think…
I've made it through 🤣
@weeksy I'm not sure about a pint but I've certainly ridden with you and I'd be happy to again but you live very far south. Gies a shout if you're ever heading near the lake district. 🙂
I'm another stw survivor of drinks with scotroutes also!
I’ve met a fair few over the years, that philconsequence bloke, to name but one, was a terrific fella, arranged loads of rides. I’ve even been locked in a room full of beer with WCA, Singletrackmind, somarich (r.i.nz) (residing in New Zealand), andy and Poddy, (was TSTWerFKAFred there? no, but I know we’ll have naked hugs again one day). When I went through my ‘bad times’ I lost touch really, but hopefully it’ll happen again one day.
Oh, did a ride with DrP and SteveXTC and that other fella (plus dezb jr and stevejr) recently, that woulda been fun in a pub after, but it was in semi-covid times.
Yeah, most of the southerners are good blokes 😁
Never been for a pint with him but I have slept with @brads at least 7 times 😉
I have met a load of STWers over the years. Being old and daft I remember few names but every one has been lovely. ONly one person wanted to continue an on line argument which did get slightly tiresome
@weeksy that reminds me - I owe your a beer this weekend if you're still headed to Machynlleth
Teej, ride and beers mate when you go on your tour. and a bed for the night if you need one.
We are yes. Will ping you a pm
Replace the pint with coffee and mtbing, and I'd happily meet you people, + si affinité. 😉 I've posted more than enough info for anyone who wanted to find me to knock on the door so TJ's threat/promise is plausible, and welcome - there's a bell too. I reply to pms when they're working.
I met some BMers on a UK trip in IIRC 2006 breaking my patela on a ride with D but continued riding until I went for an x-ray in France. It's a bit odd meeting people for the first time already knowing so much about them, once past that it was all good with some great trails, not so good coffee and dreadful beer.
Ta Ton
I did meet up with Ton a couple of times - no fist pie involved 🙂
I definitely have met some STWers on group rides in Kent and Dorset. And I met someone off here in a hotel bar in Vegas. Unfortunately, I can't remember anyone's forum name. I don't think I have ever had a drink with another STWer.

We should make a game of this. Take photo of random person on niche bike, post here. Is this you?
I live on the road approaching Macc forest so could probably post roughly a hundred pictures a day!

That’s quite scary and odd.
It was a bit funkmaster
A topic we were both passionate about where we had very different outlooks. I had obviously got under his skin and he wanted to put me right. Drink had been taken in significant quantities
Scary? ****ing mental I’d say. Bad enough when TJ has his teeth buried in a row online, let alone in person 😂
😂
I didn't bite him you will be pleased to know. I didn't even engage.
Jedi, Mboy to name but a few back in 06
WCA ironically injured!
I believe I took RD’s first photo 😊
Also in pic Richpenny, Ali behind (she used to be on here)
One day I'm going to do the Jenn ride thing, just to meet/stalk some more of you lot. But I've got a few under my belt already...
Spent the afternoon drinking coffee with Cinnamon Girl. It was a real pleasure.
Went on Chipps' 30 bithday party. Not sure I had a personal invite, but knew people he lived with at the time. I had massive imposter syndrome, everyone was so darn cool. Then, by strange coincidence me and some friends pitched up in a campsite for the night, in the adjoining field, Chipps was having his 40th.
I met loads of singletrackers back in the day. Although the only one I can recall bumping into accidentally on the trails was aP.
The list of singletrackers I'd like to meet is too long to mention but the one who particularly intrigues me is mefty.
If Binners is Uncle Festers evil triplet? Am i a Binner twinner...
Also Drac although again i have my suspicions we have met in passing.
Quite likely. Back when I bike I was fairly active and traveled to various venues and helped with events.
Am i a Binner twinner…
We may well have been separated at birth. What’s your opinion on Binners twinners dinners for winners?

I’ve also met quite a few other forumites, many of whom are now absent from here
Are you Dennis Nilsen?
Totally agree with funkmaster’s first post.
Binners i am a Greggs regular.... nuff said
That’s quite scary and odd
I've found generally people I've met from stw are quite happy to pretend stw doesn't exist while out and about IRL. With one or two notable exceptions...
Greggs regular
A Greggular?
I did once shout across a cafe "excuse me are you peterfile".
It was
I ride with and have a drink with a few people on here but I have no idea which forumites they are.
To my knowledge only one of them has worked out my alter ego and is so far keeping quiet about his (quite wise).
There's not many on here I'd not happily have a pint with...although I suspect there's a few that'd leave there's half drunk after 10 minutes of my company.

That could've gone one of two ways.
Teej, ride and beers mate when you go on your tour. and a bed for the night if you need one.
Ditto, should you have the misfortune to find yourself in East Lancs.
Are you Dennis Nilsen?
I initially parsed that as Dennis Norden and was very confused.
I often wonder how many forum members I would have crossed paths with, not on the trails but amongst Manchester club life during the 90's and early 2000's.
And in answer to the original post like most on here the answer would be tj, and I'd let him choose the subject up for argument!
If your club life included Jilly's then highly likely here.
^ and if you were at the Que Club any time between 1995-1999 you would have seen me gurning
If it was the Hac, Sankeys or Paradise Factory then definitely me.
I have actually been out riding with a few people off here having pushed on through from the night before. Oh, to be young and stupid again (as opposed to being old, stupid and far too knackered to be contemplating that kind of behaviour)
