[#3012684]

We're all guilty, we've all done it. I know I use 3 or 4 letter acronyms quite a bit when I can't be bothered to write the full words out. But recently, despite dwelling on this forum on and off for a number of years, I keep finding more and more acronyms, jargon and the like that I don't know what they are! I just had to google what on earth a "MAMIL" was, and there's tonnes of others I don't know!

For anyone new to the forum that has got to be a major offput right?

It's becoming worse than the company I used to work for a few years ago, where one day with not much else to do, I decided to create a company specific game of Bull**** Bingo. I can't remember how many acronyms or buzzwords specific to that company there were in the end, but it was fast approaching 50 for sure! I'd rather this place didn't go the same way...

So I'm proposing we can use this thread to get them all out there and listed, with their actual meanings...

So, I'll start with an easy one that I actually know what it is as I've used it countless times...

IMO = In My Opinion

Keep em coming...

"Owning with a set of Bombers"

I'd love to see the origins of that one.

I struggle with long sentences

pjm - a fantastic tale of fantasticticity about a guy coming downstairs and finding someone robbing his house then proceding to own him with a set of bombers. Subsequent lack of belief and general piss taking led to owner with bonbers photographing horrific wounds he suffered in this struggle with the ownee'ed by bombers and posting them here.

I may be exagerating the "horrific wounds" part somewhat

Right, I'm off to the secondhand forum to purchase a set of Bombers, which I'll keep under the bed for that very eventuality. I'll teach the missus the correct Bomber owning technique too.

They don't like it up 'em.

Some of them are sadly... It's got that bad! Though agree most aren't... But despite hanging around on here for a long time now, I still don't know a lot of them.

I struggle with long sentences

That's a slightly more 'to the point' version of TL;DR, isn't it.

Bigot Bingo is much more fun than bullcart bingo

That it may well be, how does one play?

Bigot Bingo is a simple yet entertaining game. You start by writing down a number of issues which bigots like to talk about. Examples might include political correctness, immigration, red tape and so on. Then you find a bigot, listen to them, and when they have covered all the subjects on your list, you can shout 'bingo'* and you have won. It can be played in a variety of settings including conferences, while canvassing, watching the telly, extended family gatherings and so on.

There are some provisos, you can't play it with an issue of the Daily Mail for example (it's just not cricket).
