This is brilliant. Seems like it's a bit sumo in the rules, aim is to get the opponent out of the white circle.

I teach Computing & IT and with the help of one of the technicians run a Robotics Club (using Vex IQ). I'll show them this on Monday, thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Seems to be called "robot sumo", searching for that brings up a bunch of stuff.

The speed of these things has made me completely rethink how scary robot police units could be.

WTF This isn't fair! At least in Terminator, Robocop, I Robot, Westworld et al. they move at human speeds.

"They" do racing too, on a similar scale. Modified RC cars racing around RC tracks. Though that has developed into something a bit more interesting again.
