Well played Bournemouth. And Dortmund earlier in the week. You love to see it.

I’ve already posted Mrs Binners thoughts on this

Anyway… the Newcastle players, or what’s left of them, looked dead on their feet today. Nick Pope pulled off some amazing saves to keep the scoreline down to that. They’re going to need to spaff those oil millions in January

Striker!

We’ve been needing a new one since Raul was assaulted at Arsenal.
It was a wonderful goal, amazing touch and skill to apply that finish.
Consistency is going to be key for us moving forward. I am happy to admit being a bit underwhelmed at the appointment of Gary O’Neil but I think it could be a very shrewd one.

Anyway, top of the Championship getting tighter....

Top of the Championship is interesting. Leicester and Leeds have strong squads. Ipswich are doing very well but I suspect they won’t be able to keep it up with a long season and inevitable injuries.

I think it further exposes the gap between the Championship and the Premier League.
In other news the powerhouse of Berkshire lost to Shrewsbury - not a great advert for dodgy owners.

I'm slightly concerned for Ipswich mid-December to Christmas. It's been pointed out to me it's Norwich on the 16, Leeds on the 23rd and Leicester on the 26th. I'd like to see 6 points out of that but will be a tough patch of games

Just watching MOTD and if you’ve not seen the Sarabia goal for Wolves against Spurs… wow! The first touch to tee himself up for the volley is unreal! As good as you’ll ever see!

I keep watching it and it just gets better.
His touch is reminiscent of Bergkamp. Incredible goal.

Yep. Watched it today. Sumptuous.
Kinda reminded me of the that Arsenal goal a few years ago.

I thought it had shades of Gasgoine at his best. Absolutely sublime

Gasgoine - how good could have he have been? A child-like genius.

Still one of the best goals ever, while we’re talking about teeing yourself up for a volley

Best volley ever was Justin fashanu against a mighty Liverpool team. Pre premier league.

Weird day, that one. I was strolling into town to meet my mates and watch the match in the pub when the bomb went off outside the Arndale. That goal made the day a bit better, but it all felt a bit surreal

I was standing just a few feet from the camera for the Gascoigne goal.  As he popped it over Hendry I thought "in the dream he now volleys this...."

I was late home from a ride and turned on the TV for the England Scotland game just as Seaman saved and Gascoigne went down the other end....

Yesterdays goal was right up there though. Beautiful to watch.

I’m slightly concerned for Ipswich mid-December to Christmas.

Better than most years then, usually December to March!

Some clubs need to acceot that despite former glories, we are unlikely to ever be successful Premier League clubs in the current climate. Maybe get promoted, maybe last 2-3 years, don't do anything financially reckless, and bounce between the Championship and Premiership when we can.

That's on here, along with a couple from Robin van Persie I was looking for. One of those Utd players that, even as a City fan, you'd pay to watch.

Van Persie’s goal on the volley with the ball dropping over his shoulder springs to mind. Jaw-dropping skill and control. Any mere mortal trying that and it’s going in Row Z. The pass from Rooney too. Inch perfect!

I was gob-smacked when Arsenal let him go to Old Trafford. Why let a player that good go to your main competition? Bonkers!

watching the volleys video, I have no idea how you can choose between them, so many stunning ones.

Shearer for me if I had to but only because I'm the son of a geordie lass and that's my team as a result.

To put some misery on it...... defenders. If you make a clearing header, not straight out into the middle channel, get it out to the wings!! How many goals in that set are direct hits after a clearing header!

If we're talking volleys, then it's Di Canio's scissor kick vs Wimbledon for me.

There are some peaches on that volleys video. I'd forgotten Andros Townsends rocket against City. Scholesy was always good for a 'put your ****ing laces through it' effort from 30 yards out

Some tasty games on today too. looking at the weather forecast, with storm Debi* coming in, I think an afternoon watching footy is very much in order

* Thats Mrs Binners name so cue lots of comments about dangerously disruptive wind 😀

That was a superb game! Chelsea continue their Robin Hood act - rob the rich, give to the poor! (Points off city, lose to Luton!)

Volleys - David Platt vs Belgium - England players weren’t meant to score goals like that  in those days.

Shows City’s embarrassment of riches that they can let a home grown player go for relative peanuts. Good to see Chelsea having a go at them, wish more teams would, although you risk a thrashing doing so.

With more financial irregularities than Father Ted, it looks like Reading's weekly fine and points deductions are coming to the end with new owners being mooted.

I completely agree and was saying as much to someone at work last week. Get promoted, don't go mad and try and stay up there. Just need to avoid buying the next Fenidi George. There are some clubs that have had a good stab as this tactic as I think it's obvious you're not going to be challenging for anything

Great goal, not as big a belter as that video but for timing, importance, and the fact i was watching it with Uni mates in the telly room in that period between finishing Uni finals and results coming out, always going to be a favourite.

it looks like Reading’s weekly fine and points deductions are coming to the end with new owners being mooted.

The Saudi’s?

In dreams, maybe. Two names have been mooted so far.

William 'Rich Energy' Storey - pulled out in early Nov when his accountants didn't like the state of the books (and I suspect they know what dodgy looks like) and Mike Ashley. TBH, for all he did at Newcastle, he wouldn't be the worst - we aren't stymied by lack of ambition and demands from a massive fan base to make us Champions League contenders.... we're a failing asset that needs turning right side up and saving / making sustainable, because bottom of League 1, 10 points behind 20th, and with potentially more points deductions to come, survival is ambitious right now.

Is £40 million relative peanuts now?  So the riches of the £120 million TV money gets you three bags of kp's
