Is there no such thing as a gentleman's agreement anymore? 🙁

EDIT: Sexist! (before anyone else says it)

I did actually. You and the unlucky 'buyer' both came across perfectly reasonably on it (clearly miffed, but non of the ****ism we often see on here), so it struck me as odd to see a new thread started about it. But hey ho.

Bloke on doorstep with money trumps random on the internet, no matter how reasonable he seems to be.

It really is this simple.

As I said on page 1, you're not a rip-off merchant but I wouldn't buy from you anyway 🙂

So what are the facts? Did toys19 reply to Gordy's email asking for payment details?

All seems to hinge on this.

Man smelling of money turned up on doorstep and toys19's sense of fair play went out the window 😉

I sold it before he replied.

TBH in the back of my mind I thought he might have been mucking me about as he said he wanted it but didn't email me, so I emailed him after a couple of hours waiting after he had made his forum post. My very first email to him was this "Hi Mate,
Let me know if you want to go ahead as I have two other buyers on the line.
Cheers "

the other buyers were asking more q's before saying anything about buying.

And he just seemed to be sluggish at replying, but then we got into a conversation that evening, every 5/10 mins or so and then silence , so next morning bloke on doorstep appears (wife calls me as I am at work) and still silence from Gordy, so I said yeah do it. He then emails at 2pm asking for paypal details. I didn't reply then as I couldn't fone wife to confirm it was sold, as she was out and as usual had left fone at home, and I didn't want to let him pay and then refund so I waited till home time, she showered me in ready life changing amounts of cash, and I forgot about gordy until, the next day when he emailed me to enquire what the score was.

Ah bollix...I'm only teasing anyway (hopefully you realise this). I think he snoozed and you were maybe a bit eager and that somewhere in the middle lies the fairest scenario. Nothing anybody can do about it now anyway. nobody's died or anything.

As i see it,

Potential buyer is a bit miffed, says his piece then gets on with life

Trailer seller feels the need for a me me me thread and rakes up old news

In conclusion -storm in a teacup- time to use your energy on more important stuff

I sold it before he replied.

You've either got your dates wrong or you told me the wrong day in your email. We agreed on the evening of the 9th that I would phone couriers the following day to see if they would collect it. I phoned around on the 10th as I'd said I would then emailed you to say they wouldn't touch it as a collection and to ask for Paypal details and for you to post it as originally planned. Then I emailed you again on the 11th asking if you got my email on the 10th. You replied (rather abruptly I thought but you were busy) that you had sold it that morning - the 11th.

Now, whether you sold it on the 10th but left me to phone the couriers anyway or whether you just didn't reply on the 10th for whatever reason and sold it on the 11th, I don't know. Either way, I was mildly annoyed at having my time wasted but nobody needs to kill themselves over it.

I hope (again) that that is the end of that.

Not sure...I think someone slept over but didn't return any phone calls, and now someone is feeling a little cheap and used.

Something like that.

Personally a goodwill gesture from toys would be a fine way to settle it IMO.

Either help Gordy find another trailer, or do it the Italian way and bunge him a wodge of cash for his inconvienience.

Then you've proved your a fair man. 🙂

I am utterly bemused by this thread. Gordy seens to be totally cool about the whole thing and toys19 usually comes across as a decent fella.

????

Long lunch toys19?

The lady doth protest too much methinks...

Does quantity of denial material indicate guilt? You know what you did Toys, you smelt filthy lucre and instantly forgot about the poor bloke you'd been stringing along...

Bad Toys, naughty Toys 🙂 If you ever have a 4wd pram for sale again, I'm not buying it 🙂

Yes, it's called getting the denial in early. Poor behaviour from a parent... what sort of example is that to set Mini Toys....? tssskkk
