I am a bit of a needle phobe and the jag I got I hardly felt. Small needle and skilled injector
I had the Pfizer BioNtech jab and the only after effects were a slightly sore arm the following day.
It's all pfizer where I am. I'd say 90% have the mild sore arm 24 hours after. About 5% seem to feel "fluey" but that correlates with those who tend to feel fluey and have random "24 hour bugs" from work. Harsh but true... That's about it though.
Sample size of about 80 from my place.
Just for a bit of balance. I know of lots who have had no side effects at all. I think posters are more likely to post if they have had a side effect. I deliberately didn't read about the side effects just in case I brought them on psychosomatically.
Ancient FIL and three of our kids have had it, only one of the kids felt a bit crap for a day.
I could hardly feel the injection (AstraZeneca) (I hate jabs). After effects where slight tiredness, a fever for about 10hrs. I was tired the next day (but that could have been from the bad nights sleep from the fever). 2 days after the jab I was completely back to normal.
Same vacc, pretty much the same symptoms. Woke up shivering first night, felt drained for two days then back to normal just like that...
AstraZeneca on Sunday afternoon, arm a bit achey in the evening, especially if I reached across with it. Woke up Monday AM feeling pants, head ache, body ache, temp a bit up and down. Paracetamol as suggested. Felt a bit better by lunchtime, teams interview (as second interviewer) finished just after two. Made cup of tea, sat down to drink cup of tea, woke up two hours later with a cold cup of tea next to me. Tuesday was ok but still a not right. Arm only sore where the jab was (like a three day old bruise, but without the fun colours).
I had AZ and started feeling crap after about 8 hours. It lasted 24 hours, achy, shivers and a bad headache. My parents and sister all had Pfizer. My dad had no side effects and my mum and sister had a sore arm. Pretty sure my parents had Covid last March/April, but had no antibodies when they got tested in December.
I had AZ last week. After 12 hrs very similar symptoms to TedC kicked in. Reckon its was the Chimp flu 😉(they use Chimpanzee adenovirus as the vaccine vector). Took me a couple of days to properly recover. As a possible alternative is catching COVID and drowning in your own body fluids I think it was a price worth paying.
Apparently I'm frontline healthcare so I've booked in for Monday rather than wait for my first shift (when getting a jab isn't actually guaranteed).
I'm 52, had the Pfizer on Monday. Zero side effects here. Im slightly worried it could mean my body isn't doing its job in fact!
My sis and bil headache/ sore arm after AZ but nothing bad.
It's a bit of a lottery but one well worth taking compared to the alternative. I would have been fine with feeling a bit rough for a couple of days to avoid long Covid etc.
Have you got a shift booked Sharkbait?
I had AZ yesterday, feel really tired and achy. Ibruprofen made me feel better but paracetamol had no effect. Still absolutely delighted to get first dose and appointment for 2nd dose.
Wife had hers, got a bit of a sore arm.
I had mine, now I can hear colours.
One of those things isn't true.
Going for mine on Monday as part of group 6. Actually quite excited!
Mrs. P had the Astra Zenica jab and for 24 hours complained of feeling like she had a chilled breeze blowing around her.
I had the Pfizer one on Monday and had a sore arm for about 36 hours but now absolutely fine.
Had mine, the AZ one, a week ago last Saturday, and, apart from slight tenderness at the jab site, I’ve not noticed any untoward symptoms at all. Unlike my last flu jab, my arm was very tender, and was really uncomfortable to lay on for nearly a week - I made a mistake and asked for it in my left arm, because I’m right-handed, but I sleep on my left side, and normally have only a mild discomfort, but this time it was very uncomfortable.
Reading today that the decision to wait twelve weeks for the second has been vindicated by test results showing that the efficiency is a fair bit higher after the second jab, and even the first one gives better protection than was initially expected.
I had the AZ one a week ago. Like others I had the aching muscles but must also have had some sort of brain fade as I actually read the leaflet they gave me (I never read instructions) which said take some paracetamol. Paracetamol normally has little effect on me but I thought I'd do what it said (another sign of brain-fade; I rarely take medicines that I don't think will work) and suprisingly was almost instantly ok. So get some paracetamol in just in case.
Had my second Pfizer on Sunday. Slightly sore arm for couple of days but that's it. Slightly disappointed, was hoping for more!
Her indoors had it today.
I fully expect that despite the impossibility of catching the flu from a flu jab, like every other year she will be special and catch the flu from it.
She is a flag-waving Boris fangirl though so that may have to be offset against wanting to tell everyone how great he (and the vaccine) are.
^^ There is a whole lot of marriage guidance issues wrapped up in that post.😉

Not yet... still waiting for the app.
But my team leader is much more on the ball than the last one and is sending regular emails - including yesterday's with the link to book the jab.
I had mine yesterday and had quite a fever overnight. Now I just feel like I got pissed and run over.
I never heard that it is diuretic? I had the biggest wee in years going to bed and still got up in the night thinking I was going to wet the bed. I cant get enough fluids in today to stop my mouth feeling and tasting like the bottom of a parrot's cage.
Mrs BigJohn was a bit groggy for a day after. I had no side effects, in fact I wouldn't know if had it if it wasn't for that dancing paperclip following me around.
