You referred to it as “holibobs”. You deserve the T shirt!

Beat me to it by a matter of minutes!

Jesus you lot are a bunch of miserable old bastards. It might not be your first choice of holiday, but in this case it's clearly a holiday for the kids. Suck it up for a week and enjoy being able to go on a holiday with them and seeing the joy in their faces.
I did a few days in disneyland paris a few years ago with 3 young children. Everyone was knackered from the drive down from Yorkshire, the children were way overstimulated and I was struggling to hold it together. But then I saw another dad losing his shit with an over-tired and over-stimulated child and rejoiced in the fact it wasn't just me feeling like that. From that point on I just decided to go along with it and enjoy it for what it was - a family holiday that was 99% for the children. They loved it and therefore I loved it.

Oh, and if you end up wearing a matching t-shirt, just spill a full glass of red wine down it on the first day, or start a bolognese based food fight at the buffet. T-shirt sadly ruined and unable to wear it again.

PS. don't forget your flashing Mickey ears headband in advance - they'll be twice as expensive on the boat!

That was deliberate. Glad it was appreciated 😀

A full tour of the war graves dressed as Mickey Mouse – freedom of expression – it’s what they fought for!! 🙂

Proper pissing myself at this one. 😀

Do you know what? I don't think it is. But anyway, that's a conversation for another time.

Oh, and it's not a week. It's from Sarfampton to a container port outside Brussels. I've been on Mersey Ferry journeys that have taken longer.

Going to go against the grain here and say I enjoyed it. We only went to Disney Paris. My self and wife. Loved it. Went in October rode every ride about 10 times as there were no queues. Were there for 4 days. Took one day and caught the train to Paris for the day.

But I draw the line at a Disney cruise, maybe a cruise to see the Northern Lights as I have heard that's pretty amazing if you get to see them.

Matching tee shirts can get in the sea!

Couple of lads at work take their families every few years, the costs for a two week Disney ‘experience’ are truly eye watering.

I've just booked our trip for 2025 (first time to Florida) and I agree. I could have got a mid-range mtb for what it cost!

Lets not lose sight of the issue here. Its not just Disney (which I think is great for family holiday). The issue is that its a Disney Cruise with matching family T-shirts.

Shudder

okay so the thread's moved past this but still. You're going to Bruges (Zeebrugger is just Brugge by the Zee), hence the obvious t-shirt slogan: voulez vous crochet avec moi?

Jesus that was hard work.

Wasn't it Disney Paris employees who got a memo telling them to stop referring to their place of employment as Mouschwitz so called it Duckhau instead. I've been once & can understand why.

voulez vous crochet avec moi?

It's Belgium though. So you need to say it with more phlegm.

Disney Cruise (or any cruise for that matter) no thank you...theme parks in Orlando with the kids? Would do it again in a heart beat and probably will.

But in defense of matching/coordinated clothing for the, at times epically crowded, theme parks...

We didn't have matching T-Shirts but we did get some Hoodies printed with Florida Trip '20 (got back a week before COVID closed everything down) plus 20 in big athletic block plus our names at the top on the back like a sports jersey.

We wore these in the evenings when we were at the parks to keep the chill off.  It also meant we could spot our then 9 year old who is/was a bit of a "runner" pretty easily as the crowds get really thick around firework time.  It's really easy to lose people at the parks in daylight, even worse in evenings.

Actually sounds like the cruise is around Paris-Roubaix time so perhaps that could be a theme for the shirts?

Can people not remember what their kids are wearing when they go to these places? If your child is wearing a red hoodie why does it aid your ability to spot them in a crowd if your other child is also wearing a red hoodie??

Budget minded trip then, yeah?  If you can do a family of 4 staying offsite in a villa for 2 weeks with disney tickets, car hire and flights for less than £8k you're doing well!

Unfortunately Zebrugge isn’t Bruge, a bit like Tilbury isn’t London.

Assumed that would be the day excursion offered to the cruisers. Unless the highlight of the visit is viewing the magnificent gas terminal and associated port infrastructure. Which it may be.

Just realised that Disney now owns The Simpsons, so it may be a trip to Flanders Fields instead.

Rich, I think your only way out of this is to insist that the matching outfits are Jimmy Saville themed. That should go down well on a Disney cruise out of the U.K.

Isn't this something to do with the Reptilian brain? We focus automatically on something, so if both kids are in bright red hoodies your brain notices red more. Put one kid in another colour and you're looking for two things which is hard. Even more so if you're male.

Apparently one of the excursions is to Ypres

I can recommend Mimi's cafe for coffee and Paul's burgers, assuming either of them is still there four years on.

I've not read the whole thread  but thanks for giving me a laugh! You poor sod! Was bad enough years ago with matching pyjamas for one Christmas, at least I didn't have to go out in public.

It was a joke about the current prices of bikes obviously. But 10 days, family of four, flying premium economy, three-bed villa with private pool and massive American planet-killing SUV was 9.5k. It’s a combination of two years holidays for us.

Still need to get Disney tickets…

So you won't be stopping off at Castaway Cay, the Disney owned/leased Island in the Caribbean?

As for t-shirts, get yours printed with Bugs Bunny on the front and 'I love DeSantis' on the back.

Say no to the T-shirts and demand matching shell suits instead. Then “accidentally” set fire to the people that suggested matching T-shirts.

Kind of related - One of my weirdest cycling experiences was on the road at the end of Oven Bottom in Macc Forest. I come bimbling out and get confronted by a family in matching she suits. They all have whistles too. The smallest weirdo starts blowing his whistle and pointing at me. As I cycle off the rest of them do the same. To this day I don’t know if it was real or an acid flashback!

Just to add insult to injury, wife & I are doing a 10wk holiday visiting NZ, Oz, Bali & Malaysia for less than a 2wk family trip to Orlando & no matching tee shirts involved.

Matching family T-shirts for holiday

Grounds for divorce IMO.

Although arguably the decision to consider a cruise, let alone a Disney cruise, would also lead me to conclude this.

Couldn't be doing 4 pages, got enough from page 1

It would have stopped for me at family holiday. Not a prayer.

The rest of it just sounds like some sort of living hell

and people in their late thirties wearing Hogwarts hoodies
Yea, but kids that read Harry Potter at a contemporary age, are now 38.

I'm a bit late to this comment but thought it worth pointing out that I'm still wearing my Famous Five branded tank top and sandals (with white socks obvs). I'm Dick, according to the name on my back.
