Help settle an argument between me and my wife. Obviously there are female chefs out there.... but are there any famous ones?
Nigella Lawson, Deliah Smith, etc are all cooks in my opinion - the wife disagrees. Thoughts?
Allegra McEvedy for one
Angella Hartnet is probably the female chef on TV/Radio the most at the moment.
I think you are correct about NL and DS, they are cooks not chefs, but don't tell your wife she's wrong!
I believe the difference is that chefs manage menus and staff while cooks get there hands dirty as it were.
Lorraine Pascale is a trained chef and she is a lady, can't think of any others.
Helene Daroze.
The head chef at royal hospital road is a woman too.
Any my wife, though she doesn't chef anymore!
Never heard of any of those, I think that makes me right then 😀
Oh and head chef at Arzak in San Sebastien is a woman - one of the best restaurants in the world.
But definitely dominated by men at the top end.
Only about a thousand million mums who cook for their families every day of every week of every year.
But they don't get called 'chef'.

Dinner ladies!
It's a well known fact that women cook and men chef.
That said I won't be telling the Gf that
nugget of wisdom.
I did... as I cooked the dinner in my defence!
Ruth Rogers and Rose Grey
Angela Hartnett
Helene Darroze
