I've never taken a holiday at this time of year but it's my Dad's 60th coming up next Feb and we thought we might take him away and have a break too.

Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Open to most things really. Would be nice to get some winter sun but I expect the half term tax might rule this out? Are there any cheeky under the radar options that can keep the cost reasonable?

I guess centre parcs / forest holidays / air BnB cottage type thing might be the most likely option? Maybe a European centre parcs? Are they any good (and open in Feb?)

Would be 5 adults as sister and BIL will prob come too and 2 kids (6 and 4).

Would welcome any suggestions really as don't know where to start!

Cheers

Basically, and I speak as the husband of a teacher, everything is bloody expensive. You can minimise it by taking a risk and booking late but generally, you're stuffed. Sorry.

This is good for a family get together- there's a number of interconnecting (or separate) barn conversions with an on site pool and a games room with table tennis, table football and a PlayStation. Not far to Bridlington or beaches for walks. http://www.yorkshirecoastalcottages.com/search/property/the_old_barn It's never going to be warm outside there in Feb, but the houses are cosy, have stoves, well equipped etc.

Cheers.

Those Yorkshire cottages look good. Will definitely throw those into the mix.

We usually go to The Lakes (Keswick) in Feburary (both teachers). Cottages are cheap relative to the summer and the trails (walking and biking) are pretty quiet. As long as you don't mind occasionally 'challenging' weather.
