Ah c'mon now Old boy's not a martial arts movie. And Seven Samurai seems tenuous. But if you're going there, Sanjuro is the finest Samurai movie ever made, bar none. Chocolate, meh.

Crouching Tiger's one of my favourite ever films full stop.

Incidentally, quite a few good Asian martial arts films on Netflix that you may not have heard of. Worth a rummage.

This is the best. I'll not hear another word about it.

Zatoichi was a good one too. Haven't watched any Kung Fu films for years.

'The Man From Nowhere' has a great knife fight in it.

'A Bittersweet Life' has some brilliant fight scenes, and is a wonderful film.

Kung Fu Hustle for it's humour and fantasy, comic-book martial arts.*
The Ip Man series for their brilliant fight scenes and humility.
Red Cliff for it's epicness and being a martial arts movie not just about a single hero/ ego.

*where the hell is KFH 2 Stephen Chow???

Going off piste here, but I'd like to contribute:

1 Bourne - amazing semi- real world Krav Maga
2 Kill Bill - homage to old school samurai films
3 Daniel Craig era Bond - also Krav Maga I believe.

Passtherizla: you beat me to it

Shaolin vs Wutang, Chessboxing etc, basically any Gordon Liu films from that era
early Jackie Chan / Sammo hung films

I still have a box of about 30 Kung-Fu movies that I need to digitise from VHS

+1 to many of the above.
Channel 4 is what got me into studying kung-fu.
Particularly the ops Prodigal Son.

Trying to add more to a very good list:
I remember Last Hurrah for Chivalry being enjoyable.
Have we had Jackie chan Young Master? (big white fan fight scenes :))
Fist of Legend (fist of fury remake with Jet Li)
and the Legend of Fong Sai Yuk (Jet Li again) were good.

Love Jet Li's stuff from the early 90s - Fong Sai Yuk, once upon a time in China trilogy, the tai chi master etc - good ensemble cast that appeared in a lot of the films.
Like Hero the best out of his big budget films - gorgeous to look at.

Seven Golden Vampires

Hopping vampires are hard to beat (unless, of course, you can run faster than they can hop)

The Twilight Samuri? Apart from one Aikido move, martial arts film?

I just rewatched this tonight and cried again. What a beautiful film. So sad and such a proud man.

Too many classic ku fu movies to mention from Asia but I do like the early stuff by Steven Seagal and recently Bourne and Taken.
