It turns out that the cross above Dovestones reservoir is a memorial to my Great whatever Uncle.

We was out hunting on the moor and his shotgun got caught in his clothing, he tripped, KA-BLAMMO! The cross marks the site where they found most of him.
This is his brother (my distant Grandad) John Platt.

Simply wow. Great history. My Mum grew up in a large house and gardens. When her Dad died in the war, her Mother vanished everything went to pot.

Looks like they spent it on family memorials!
Some must have gone on coke and hookers!
I imagine the money went on Duck ponds and second homes expenses as back then you didn't get expenses..
