Doing the Glasgow to Balloch run tomorrow morning with a bunch of folk from work.
I'm prob the best known cyclist in the place, as a result of which I'm guessing folk will expect me to know where I'm going!
I Have cycled most of the route before but starting in Clydebank at the Canal. I have a rough idea of the stretch from the SECC to Clydebank but I'm also aware that some of the old cycle paths are gone now with the Glasgow Harbour flats etc..
Most of the folk will prob have trouble staying on the bike so would prefer to do as much off road as poss..
Can someone recommend me a good gps app for my iPhone 4 I might be able to use as well as any info on the SECC stretch to Clydebank please?
Ta in advance,
Allan.
nothing like good planning and this is nothing like good planning
Why not just Google what you have put here?
No idea of the area you are talking about. Is is it possible to 'drive' it tonight on google earth/streetview, at least the unfamilair bits?
I live in the Glasgow Harbour flats and from the SECC to here is a road parallel with (river-side) the A814 and quite quiet. There are cycle paths outside of the harbour flats and then a dedicated cycle path that you can pick up a few hundred metres down South Street that runs parallel with South Street and goes up towards Loch Lomond.
South Stree is horrendously pot-holey so be warned...
I think the app I've got is "cycle streets" and seems ok.
I think Bike Hub do a point to point cycle routing app that is free. Based on the cyclestreets stuff if I remember right...
+1 for cyclestreet
Know my way round the area reasonably well- drive down South St most nights so know about the potholes!
JY, yep, last minute but it's not very well organised and I'd rather have some route info before I go!
Googled it and found some info so it's all good!
