So, my main music of choice is metal, but I am looking at indulging my non-metal alter-ego. Favourites include:

- Dire Straits
- Bruce Springsteen
- Neil Young
- Pink Floyd
- Allman Brothers
- Black Crowes

Any recent releases i might like?

Yeah, all the albums! My favourites are Decoration Day, The Dirty South and Go-Go Boots.

There are quite a few line-up changes over the years but the two main guys are the same, it means that there are sometimes 3 different singers/songwriters on an album which gives a nice mix.

Used to be a Cop is Patterson Hood, one of the main guys. Never Gonna Change is Jason Isbell who was with them for 3 albums.

Mike Cooley is the other main guy, here's one of his:

Great live too!

I've just downloaded/bought "The Dirty South". I know it doesn't fulfil the "newly released" part of my OP but I listened to a track and liked it. I'll check out their other stuff as well.

Thanks for the suggestion ๐Ÿ™‚

Felt bad for leaving out Shonna who plays bass on a few albums and does this awesome cover:

Thanks, but I don't do Spotify. I mainly buy stuff digitally off Amazon and store it on my NAS.

I have checked them out before and it didn't really do anything for me, although I may give them another try.

Hahaha don't feel bad, I appreciate your efforts. As it happens I was a huge Gary Moore fan, albeit mainly his rock period. I've never listened to Snowy White so I'll give that a whirl.

Cheers.

I'm actually listening to the STW Spotify playlist at the moment and by pure co-incidence, this came up - thought it might fit the bill....

(no idea how current it is)

The War on Drugs - but I see it's been mentioned above...maybe try the KEXP session,

The Hold Steady -

Titus Andronicus - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08fqHr_KGPY - the vocal style puts some people off but if you're coming from metal you won't be fazed. Recommend the album 'The Monitor'.

If you like Springsteen/Young etc for the lyricism then you might also appreciate:

Frightened Rabbit - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx7dF89a3z4

The National - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgRsYkKb1eI

My housemate loves War On Drugs, but to me they sound like a load of other people in each song, but don't sound like themselves, if you know what I mean. Don't mind listening to them but wouldn't choose to.

Aynsley Lister - this is the title track from his most recent album. Lots of stuff on YouTube to look out. Gets started about 1 minute in.

This may not fit the OP's requirements, but 6Music have been playing this band for a while and I love them to bits, bought the album just after release n'all:

Pinkshineyultrablast from St Petersburg.
