Ferrari really need to sort their shit out. Leclerc's constant palaver's are becoming farcical and Sainz could have caused a massive accident by going so slowly.

I'm loving Fernando 2.0. reminds me a lot of Seb v1.0 and Seb 2.0. I guess they get the bigger picture and much more personable.  Shame they cant have an f1 race of champions or even ex winners.

3 places for Sainz seems very lenient given the way he was parked mid-chicane

First corner predictions?

FA to push MV into the new wall on the run off between turn one and two?

That would be fun, but I fear Max will be gone. Fernando v Lewis might be the battle!

Good race that, enjoyed it!

Albon - bloody brilliant.

Ferrari need to hoof both their driver out - they’ve got x2 Bottas’s not two racers.

Not convinced on that, if you stuck either of them in Perez seat they'd be fairly close to Max.

I think the main problem at Ferrari is still Ferrari.

I agree. It mostly seems to be strategy that is letting them down, they seem to be able to come up with a reasonably fast car

Yeah in general it's terrible, although IIRC they did a one-stopper this race which worked quite well.

The car is quick but still difficult to drive. Also inconsistent from session to session.

They weren't the only ones.  Seems like the stewards saw right through Alonso's frantic steering wheel antics while doing 37mph!

Nice try Fernando!!

Name change for Alpha Tauri and 'closer integration' with Red Bull next season - a cynical person may think they're trying to push the boundaries of the catering budget!...

Seems pretty obvious that it will provide benefits to Red Bull A, whether that’s sharing data/R&D or moving the Red Bull B cars further up the grid so that they have more strategic power in races. Doesn’t sit well with me.

It stinks - FIA are closing the 'external employees' loophole and all of a sudden it's a good plan for Toro Rosso to have the same car as the lead team again.

With the interest there is from potential new teams there's no reason for 'B' teams to exist in F1 as it is.

I understand the benefit of smaller teams being able to save money by buying in gearboxes, suspension, etc. from their engine supplier team, but surely the budget cap should be adjusted down for those teams to reflect the cost savings. The small teams will still be able to run at a lower budget level, but it would reduce the benefits that the parent teams could get.

By moving the Alpha Tauri aero development team from Bicester to Milton Keynes and just shipping both as many mechanical parts as they can from RB and all the aero parts out to Italy to be built from the one facility,  it seems like a pretty good way to effectively double your annual development budget and Op Ex.

I mean I know Hass has sim access and a design team at Ferrari but this does seem a step closer than that arrangement to what amounts to a 4 car team and all the benefits of that.

I don't think AT will be able to just run the same aero kit as Red Bull, they will have to show that they've developed their own designs from their own wind tunnel data. However, by saving money on gearboxes, suspension, etc., they will be able to spend more on investigating new concepts that will benefit Red Bull. Given how important suspension is to generating a stable aero platform, I'm suspicious that the biggest benefit might be from AT sharing the same suspension rather than directly from the aero side.

Sure, but they'll share data about it, and they'll be using the same wind tunnel. I agree about the suspension parts though. Surprisingly they don't share anything like as much as they can now. I'd be massively surprised if the AT (or whatever it'll be called next year) doesn't look exceedingly similar to the RB19

No, I'm pretty sure that data sharing is forbidden. However, engineers changing teams isn't. They won't be able to take data with them, but they will be able to take know-how about the concepts and processes.

So Red Bull line-ups after the summer break then!... 🙂

Max & Danny

Yuki & Liam Lawson

...Perez and Debris are going backwards.

Track limits bite hard as always in Austria… not a great day for Checo, slowly chipping away at Marko’s memory of Baku 2018.

Will be interesting to see if Lando can do anything in the sprint, he seems to love this circuit. Drivers make a real difference round here: eight teams in Q3 is quite the mix.

I'm guessing that Lando's lawyer will be going through his contract looking for a way to trigger an escape clause for next year.

Lando's upgraded McLaren (Piastri didn't get one) was looking like the 3rd fastest car on the grid

It'll be a few races before we know whether the improved McLaren is circuit specific or not. One of their big problems was too much drag but the DRS zones in Austria might be disguising that. I hope it is a big step forward, but I suspect they will still be at the front of the midfield at best.

One of Lando's fave tracks too, which makes a difference.

Speaking of which, he's just put himself 3rd for sprint qualy- beating both Ferraris!

not a great day for Checo

that might be understatement of the season. To not make sure at least 1 lap is clean is amateur hour.

Elsewhere, another horror smash at Spa 😕

Checo drove him onto the grass, he deserved what came after it.
