so here it goes....

I've got a 250gb external HD that was formatted to time machine and has been backing up my four year old macbook and is just about full, it will still overwrite the oldest back ups though.

I bought a 1TB external HD a year or so ago and it has about 140GB of GoPro videos on it, my mac is now used 140Gb of it's 160gb, so i thought I may start using the 1TB HD, but it's got all those GoPro vids on it, and I don't have anywhere to park them up.

I want to partition the 1TB but to do so it would wipe it clear (according to seagate's website)

So, I plugged it into my work laptop which has enough capacity to hold these files, so I plugged it in, device driver worked and said 'ready to use' and now can't find the 1TB HD on the list of drives. I can't remember formatting it for mac and thought it would work like a memory stick and float between the two devices, until I partition it then make one PC and one time machine partitions on it.

any ideas? I;m not PC savvy either (obviously I hear y'all say) ๐Ÿ˜†

Look in disk manager (right click My Computer and Manage), see what it sees there (if anything). A foreign partition will show up as 'unformatted' or similar.

tried that, it shows a load of stuff but none of named. When I go into device manager it shows the drive as well as the hard drive but beyond that I can't seem to actually find how to open it..
