It may conjur images of a shit browser but at least its not a shit icon in its self.

I thought 'swoops' were old-hat 10 years ago!

Only bug i've found so far is that the music controls don't work when the screen is locked...

Erm, works ok for me. Have you turned something off somewhere?

Yep - it clearly shows you flying around the big blue "e" for "enternet" ๐Ÿ™‚

I don't think many browser icons make sense. It's kind of an abstract concept really.

As for Chrome...

Oh, and Safari, whats with the compass icon. Makes no sense
The idea of "navigating" the world wide web is something that's been around since the very early days so it makes perfect sense really. Anyone remember this?
[img] [/img]

FWIW I like iOS 7. The added features are great, and I like the new clean design - especially the fonts which are now specifically designed for retina screens. My initial reaction was "wow that's bright" but it definitely makes the design above ^^^^ (with the OTT shadows, highlights, etc) look quite dated already... (although I thought they were a bit naff anyway)

They can still use Siri to activate Airplane Mode from the Lock Screen so you'd need to switch that off too.
Good shout, sorted

How do I sort this please?

Yeah, maybe its just the look of the Safari icon that offends me. It always used to be a bit twee and oldy worldy and now it's MS paint.

I wish there was space for a fifth app on the permanent bar at the bottom. ๐Ÿ˜

On an amusingly incompetent note. Barclays just sent me this text:

Speaking of which, someone pointed out to me the bizarre icon you click on in MS Office to save your work. What the hell is it?! ๐Ÿ™‚

When I first read that the Control Centre could be accessed from a locked phone and used to turn on Airplane Mode - thus rendering Find my iPhone useless - I had a panic and turned this feature off ASAP. I then missed it, so thought what the possible impact was.

My understanding is that the new iOS7 means that the phone cannot be reset without the iCloud credentials. If my phone fell into the wrong hands and they turned on Airplane Mode, the thief would be left with a phone they are unable to reset to use themselves or flog. They can't get into it either, assuming I have a passcode on it that they don't crack. OK, so I've lost a phone but - in theory - I've lost no valuable or sensitive data.

As soon as they turn wireless on or airplane mode off (i discovered today that Airplane mode can be used with wireless and Bluetooth on) I can use Find my iPhone to wipe the data.

In summary, I reckon the risks of having Control Centre accessible from the lock screen are minimal.

I think that is the issue. With Airplane Mode turned on they can take as long as they like to crack the passcode and you can't do anything to stop them.

No lag on my 4S. The icons are fine, just different. iPaad1 only supports iOS5 and this feels really dated now.

There is an option tthat will reset the phone after 10 failed attempts though.

Exactly, so it's not as bad as some people are making it.

Assuming you've turned on that option.

And assuming there is no other way into the phone - like the other bug (which lets you access apps from the lock screen) or simply connecting it up to a PC with some third-party software running that lets you browse the phone.

I agree it isn't a major blocker - but it is something folk should be aware of.

Wether airplane mode is off or on you only get 10 attempts on the password, but it will not let you re-enter for an hour or so unless you have the feature on that wipes the phone after 10 attempts. My girls often trip this.

Just updated my iPhone 5, an iPad 2 and my wife's iPhone 4 and it's all gone very slick and all works like a dream. It took a bit of getting used to initially but after a good 30 mins of playing with it it feels natural and the previous version looks outdated now. I love the control panel feature and the clean look of the new icon designs.

It's clearly nothing more than a visual update with a few minor additional and enhanced features, but it's all good.

Not having read right from the beginning, but has anyone else noticed the fact that the clock icon now actually tells the correct time, with sweep second hand as well? Nice subtle little touch, that. ๐Ÿ˜€
I did discover late last night that the folder background colour is dictated by the wallpaper colours, I've put a photo up which sort of graduates from sand to sky, (it's a beach shot), and the folders follow suit; they're basically just blurred background.
I'm liking 7 more and more, there's lots of nice functionality in there, which makes 6 seem clunky by comparison.

I think it's a whole load better than 6. My 4S and iPad 3 are faster so that's good as well ๐Ÿ™‚ I like the unicorn land colours and icons too.

Perhaps a teasing hint by Apple that they could do widgets if they really wanted to?

So finally updated. Not entirely convinced so far.

Bad point: The Calendar seems to be a lot more painful to use.

Good points: app folders can finally hold more than one page of apps! And apps finally auto update.

Not read the other 7 pages so don't know if the following been mentioned....

Calendar, rubbish
Flickr pix / vids not showing
Every time I scroll up a page I bring up the control panel at the bottom, annoying!

iPad user

Calendar seems alright on the iPad but is useless on the phone. You used to be able to tap the days with events and it showed you at the bottom what the events were. Now it takes you to a new screen where you have to scroll through the day (or hit search) to see the schedule, then tap again to go back.

Many more taps to do the same thing = not good!

Every time I scroll up a page I bring up the control panel at the bottom, annoying!

Not had that but you can turn it off in Settings.

The scroll pad that swipes up from the bottom is a bit annoying, but I've gotten used to not swiping directly from the bottom of the screen.

I really don't like the transparent/grey toolbars, they really are gash.

I had a good old look on the new 5c in the Apple shop today and have to say IOS7 suits it much better than the iPad..

Yeah been looking myself, the new calendar is lovely on the ipad but utter crap on the phone.

There are loads. CalenMob and Readdle both look okay.

Because it's got rid of all those bevels.
