Just heard tonight that a friends daughter has just been crowned European Youth Female Windsurfing Champ. So pleased for him as he's spent many £££ supporting his talented & dedicated daughter in her sport.
His wife has spent until hours driving her to events, so chuffed for them all.
Next stop Olympic programme!

Has made me realise how much has to be spent to get the talented kids onto the big stage, those boards & sails aren't cheap
Indeed. My daughter swam. Trips to the other end of the country with hotel stay for a 40 second race. Club fees etc. Training camps abroad.
A friend of mine's kids all sailed and he has one in the world class potential programme (Olympic youth), they where well off and bought a mobile home to travel round to events. With sailing (and windsurfing) you need best kit for racing and also training stuff
