I loved this comment about Panasonic moving

The company's UK HQ employs around 30 staff and around 20 of them will be expected to up sticks for the Netherlands or work remotely. Given that the company's HQ is currently in Bracknell, that's probably not so bad for the staff concerned. µ

Goodbye Sony.

These loses will be so frequent as not to be newsworthy soon.

Sony and Panasonic have been very heavily cutting jobs for around 20 years, so why are you only just saying goodbye heaven's knows.

They're not cutting jobs though are they?... they're moving them elsewhere. Not the far east, not outsourcing to India or Eastern Europe but to another country with a similar cost base to ours, that just happens to be IN the EU.

I would agree with the premise that you can't blame all bad news on Brexit, (JLR announcement looked like it was more to do with the slowdown in China for example) but in this case as far as I can see, Brexit is definitely to blame?

The point is that if things are already tough out there, then it isn't sensible to make things tougher still?

Another great article by Finton O'Toole in the Irish Times

It is not just the economy, stupid – Brexit is about belonging

Difficult to argue with this:

There is a long-term crisis of belonging in the UK. Brexit is its most lurid symptom, but it is not a cure. Theresa May’s appeal to the “precious, precious union” is mere denial about the rise of English identity. The hard Brexiteers, under the cover of nationalism, want to unleash an even more virulent form of globalisation that will destroy what is left of working-class communities.

Bastard.

Seriously?

Helped by the new EU:Singapore trade deal I suspect. After campaigning for us to tear up our current cake and eat it unmatchable bespoke arrangement with the EU.

What a grade A ****.

Goodbye P&O.
Goodbye Sony.
Goodbye Dyson.

Any more today…?

To be fair to Dyson only 2 people are moving. And they are planning a lot of investment in the UK.

Actually, I'm coming round to agreeing with Ken's position. IMHO we collectively are capable of giving our opinions but we clearly aren't qualified to make the final decision.

So I call upon Ken and his allies of all political persuasions to stand up and be counted to play the part of these much needed grown ups, before shouty Nige and his red faced mates damage us all.

I think Ken knows full well the shit-thick pig-ignorance sat around him, but its just a blatant dig at Farge innit? 😀

"To be fair" to Dyson… he's just doing what others are doing, and moving his HQ out of the UK, because this is now the wrong place to centre your operations if you are expanding and want known access to world markets.

NB @MrKennethClarke is a parody account. However, I think that approach is the right one. Parliament should MTFU and kill Brexit without coming back to us the great, ignorant unwashed.

Fake news then.

And what it would be best to happen seems, unfortunately, the least likely to happen option. Although, every time someone throws around the vague "civil unrest" threats, the more I think it should happen.

While Dyson isn't moving any jobs out of the UK (yet), he is insulating his company from the volatility of the UK's access to markets, the pound, taxes and potential trade wars. He argued for it, but isn't willing to let his company go through it, complete and utter arsehole.

Dyson

complete and utter arsehole

Yep.

The delusion ‘out there’ is incredible, though. There are ‘educated’ people I know who are still saying “we can’t rule out No Deal as it’s all we’ve got to threaten ‘em with”. And Peter Lilley has written exactly that in the Graun today as well. With people like this in positions of power we are ****ed. The likes of Barnier must just be shrugging their shoulders. Sooner or later they will just say ‘**** off’ and see how you get on, and what’s more we are introducing a 20 year minimum period between leaving and applying to rejoin. Cheerio.

As with Redwood, Lilley was immediately pinged back in the late 80s and early 90s as a swivel-eyed moron by the likes of Spitting Image and HIGNFY. Big on ideology, small on intellect. Now these two are being marketed as some kind of sensible parental figures. They are both imbeciles and have shown themselves to be so on numerous occasions.

You only have to look at comments on the Beeb news website to realise how this fiasco happened. Idiots - the answer is idiots. They are everywhere - ready to be exploited by liars.

'Only 2-3% of our supply chain is in Europe' says the Dyson spokesman ( https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46962093)

Oh well at least it is good news that a no-deal won't affect Dyson much 🙂

Only one error there. Totally ****ing believable because he is a Brexiteer with a brain cell or two. Therefore he must be in it for some kind of personal gain and be an utter hypocrite.

There are only two types of people who now believe in Brexit.

1. Exploiters who stand to gain personally (monetarily or politically or both).

2. Morons.

There are no exceptions to this now.

That's £100m in corporation tax that Dyson is taking out of the country. He is an absolute cock.

No job loses caused by the hq move but as the hq is not in the UK now it won't be paying UK corporation tax.

Not defending him here but it doesn't mean all profits are routed off shore. Therefore there will still be tax payments, any decent business would have sorted out off shore profits by now anyway so not sure how much difference there will be.

However it does mean that having your HQ in the UK is not a smart move in a post brexit world, highlights what a shit head some of the leaders of leave are

Just some? I haven't come across one that hasn't just been in it for themselves (their own company, their own wealth, their own twisted view etc,.)
