[#7150337]

On Saturday night we squeezed onto the sofa, with supplies of munchies for the evening, and introduced the Binnerettes - 11 & 8 - to Wayne's World. To say they loved it would be a massive understatement.

They've got their mates round and we've just walked in to see it on again as they're all head banging and singing along wildly enthusiastically to bohemian rhapsody

My work here is done 😀

Your recomendations for other suitable gems to complete a child's cultural journey...? Bill and Ted and Ghostbusters DVD's already ordered

A lack of education is nothing to boast about.

DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT, show them the video version of National Lampoons Christmas Holiday...
Let's just say it has a few extra scenes and a more tolerant approach to language than my wife and I remembered... 😯

When I was that age we had Black Sabbath, my mate's Dad's german porn stash, a few cans of cider that we'd nicked from the factory down by the railway and hearty go on a spliff thanks to the local scooterboys when we sneaked next door to their party

Little Miss CFH, at a little over two, would respond with the correct terminology when I announced that "I gotta fever.....and the only prescription is....".

She also loves to headbang her way around the kitchen. Favourites are Iron Maiden and early GnR. She even does her own Axl-sway, which is adorable.

Beyond that? Well, there's obviously been Ivor, Bagpuss and the Clangers. We'll start introducing Dangermouse gradually, of course.

Oh, and she loves Elgar. Makes her sit and smile.

Young Master CFH? Well, he giggles when he farts, so that's got to be a win!

Reset the telly to only show tennis/football/olympics/news then watch their little faces as they switch on expecting cartoons.

Probably why i hate sport on tv now!

MacGyver +1

How else is a child to know how to make an emergency bomb from an acorn shell and a Volvo bonnet catch?

I thought MCJnr would go for the original A Team series - sometimes you misjudge these things.

I only recently got round to watching The Princess Bride at the age of 44. Great film.

I'd add Risky Business onto the list, a double lesson in Economics and the world's oldest profession.

We live in Lancashire and she attends a state school.

That's enough "culture" for any child.

My kids got loads of Bach. They both became quite musical, but not classical.

Teenage Kicks came on the car radio this morn, just as I was about to pull onto the drive... I carried on up the road and told the boy (5) to get his window wound down.

He didn't need encouraging to strum his air guitar... good lad

Making them go to school
No time off
No holidays in term time
Ban anything that you think they shouldn't see (they will find it very soon after)

Edit

Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

How can we be on the second page with no mention of Back to the Future?

I want you all to sit in the corner and think about what you've done.
