You posted an expletive-ridden complaint last night, which I assume is why it was closed.

You reported your own post at 21:42. You received a reply at 22:06 telling you that Tech have been notified. I understand that you're cross about the advert, I would be too, but quite why you're having a paddy about not receiving a response I've no idea. Check your emails.

Despite your demand for the mods to "sort it," the moderators have no control over STW's advertising. Similarly, starting (multiple) threads complaining about it won't get it investigated any faster, or indeed at all, Tech don't actively monitor the forum.

STW uses - and indeed relies on for its continued existence - third party advertising. This is primarily served by Google but other ad networks are used from time to time (or at least, this was the case the last I time I discussed it with The Powers That Be). Occasionally a rogue ad slips though, which is unfortunate but the nature of the beast I'm afraid. I'm sure it'll be looked into as a priority.

If you get these in the future you can email tech@ who will investigate. You can email moderator@ if you like, but all we can do is forward your message on to Tech which adds a delay into the process so you may as well cut out the middle man and contact them directly. CC: us in for completeness by all means if you wish.

Hope this helps.

Doesn’t affect me in the slightest but it shouldn’t happen on a site that has a strong community.

I wouldn’t rip other forumites off , I expect the same from Singletrack.

It isn’t STW ripping anyone off.

I'm still a little unclear on how they actually managed to charge you. How can they send you a text without having your mobile number?

Once upon a time your mobile number was actually included in the browser's useragent string, but AFAIK that hasn't been the case for a long time. You can check this by going to the following address and checking that your mobile number doesn't appear:

http://useragentstring.com/

Yeah, I've now sanitised it. I'm not certain but this might be why it was reopened just now, so I've closed it again.

I got told off for discussing why I never now turn off the thing that we aren’t allowed to discuss that stops adverts from ripping us off for £4.50 by accidentally clicking on them.

The first rule of adblocker club is don't talk about adblocker club.
