reminds me of a frequent topic on golf gti forums that used to come up quite often
People wanted to top up or change the gearbox oil, but ended up pouring a litre or two of oil through the timing hole in the gearbox casing rather than the filler hole. This coated the clutch plate in oil and ruined it, requiring a replacement clutch.
The best one was the guy who bought three litres of really fancy oil at something like £20 per litre and proceeded to ruin his clutch with it 🙄
