I wasn't making 'jokes' about kebabs; someone mentioned kebabs and I haddunt seen what they were referring to so my coments weren't related to what was on the screen at all. I only tuned in afterwards.

S'alright Elfman I know. I also agree about these medically branded excuses for freakshows but I just can't help watching programs about fat people 😯

I don't Darcy, I empathise with them. There's a fat person inside me trying to get out.

There you go again. Is it all one big joke to you? Do you think life is one big joke for the people on the documentary?

Darcy - are you being kept awake by those bloody neighbours?

Honestly though diet, bodyweight, psychology it all fascinates me. I love seeing people take hold of their lives and change the things that they want to and the things that they can. I love seeing people happy with what they are no matter how it fits with our perception of normality.

I feel tremendous sadness for the people that appear on embarrassing bodies (overweight, thin or average builds) that have medical conditions limiting their quality of life. Things that I can't believe haven't been treated, or it takes the intervention of the program to resolve... how many others are out there suffering similarly?

It is also true that I dispair slightly at people who complain about things they can fix but choose not too. But still... they fascinate me too... people are amazing.

TSY isn't a hippy, he just has this massive insecurity and wants everyone to notice him and love him and be his special friend. 😆

Didn't see this programme so can't comment but have seen one in the past. I certainly felt uncomfortable watching that one and it featured a mixture of unpleasant conditions.

I can only presume that last night's reported on people who hadn't received any help from their GP?

Not everyone has the wherewithal (probably not the best word to use here) to question their GP. Having personally been on the receiving end of a dismissal by my GP, let alone the fact that I've put on 2 stone in weight in the last 18 months. I can fight my corner but many can't.

Don't judge people when you don't know the truth.

STW would be a very quiet place if that rule were ever imposed! You've just spoiled the raison d'etre of pretty much every internet forum!

I think that is the over riding message from the show C_G.

One of the guys was completely failed by the health service... he must've been going to the Dr's and why they hadn't helped him earlier is truly shocking. Unbelievable infact.

Yes, you're absolutely right crazy-legs! Pot kettle black for me. 🙂

Truth be told I'm feeling sorry for myself, as well as angry with the medical profession. Just want my life back. 🙁

What a load of bloody nonsense. That show is put on Channel 4 for entertainment. We watch it for that, maybe there's a bit of education to be had, but for who? Not me, I don't think. So I watched it to go "Blimey look at that!" etc.
Then you chat about what you watched on TV. It's what people do and have done for yonks. People chat about stuff and make a few jokes on the side. It's what we do and have done for yonks. It doesn't mean we're laughing at the people, who kindly demonstrated their medical problems for our entertainment, we're just chatting.
So get off your bloody high horse or whatever it is and choose another thread if you don't like it. Cheers.

[edit] In short - don't tell me what I can and can't make jokes about.

Still don't see why people can't go to their GPs* cause they are embarrassed about a medical problem but will go on national telly. I think the nations psyche must be pretty ***ed up, media obsessed or rather "get myself in the media" obsessed.

*I guess a few may have been ignored, mistreated or just slipped through the gaps in the NHS but not all of them surely...?

DONK - you're missing the point completely! Not all GPs listen to their patients. Some of them are in the wrong job.

FCOL = for crying out loud

Did I invent that one? ^

quite likely, I did allude to this but still think there seem to be a lot of people go to the the embarrassing bodies clinic - have all these people been let down by GPs/NHS?
