They've hit the big red button at Tesla, 0% is back on new 3 and Y - clearly miles behind forecast. He'll not last much longer as CEO - he can't.

In the meantime, the base level 3 is now £299 a month over 48 months with £4k in, and scrapes under the £40k 'luxury' tax threshold so cheap road fund licence.  There'll be a lot of people burying principles in favour of a good deal...

The thing remains that Tesla is hugely overvalued while he is CEO on account of his ‘genius’ and I think some of the bigger shareholders will try not to force him out because of that.

road fund licence

As this is at least in theory a cycling forum, I’m going to point out that the road fund was abolished in 1937.

Not giving them away though. £6140 or 18 months equivalent initial payment for PCP which is a bit spicy.

We’ve had Teslas since 2018. We’ve really enjoyed the cars. Any of my opinions on what I like about them will likely produce comment.

I think it would be hard to deny that Musk’s association with Tesla has made it viable. I also think that had Tesla not succeeded (by many measures) then EVs would still be kooky car choices. However, as a public company I do not think that Musk can continue as a viable CEO/president.

I think that there are a few stocks that appear overvalued. Some based on more incredible things than Tesla’s FSD, robots, and robotaxis. I will concede that FSD capabilities vary by territory.

I popped into a Tesla shop yesterday to check out the new Model Y. It is pretty good. More angular outside and simpler inside than my current Model Y. But the current UK brand standing and some of the competition make it look only OK even at 0% with £6,000 down.

TBH I am a bit sad at how this has turned out as I expect bigger ramifications for EVs than for Tesla alone.

irrespective of Tesla’s standing I do not want to go back to an ICE. EVs are so much more convenient, zippier, and fun to drive. And zero tailpipe emissions.

That’s the thing though - a lot of what he offers is either vapourware or clearly designed as a spoiler for something that actually works (see: Hyperloop and high-speed rail)

I learned many years ago that it is not real if it not in the product now.

sure, I’ve been surprised occasionally but on the whole it has helped me avoid disappointment on many occasions.

I am surprised at the credulity of many ‘journalists’ when it comes to tech nonsense. Too many examples to cite. The ‘better offline’ podcast (cool zone media) seems outlandish and yet …

Today in tech feudalism...a SOTA LLM has been rigged to push it's owers narrative. Ineptly for now, but they'll get better at this.

Ha, I wondered why the South African ‘refugees' had arrived in the USA, I hadnt made the association that Musk was South African, so it’s all fallen into place.

I’m fairly sure he also arrived in the US on a student visa and then initially started working illegally, too.

I will concede that FSD capabilities vary by territory.
You mean the territories where they have multiple lawsuits and investigations after FSD keeps killing and maiming people, mainly as it only just follows the basics of functional safety?

There are several competitors that have more competent hardware/processing/sensor systems, yet they are generally only offering some sort of advanced autopilot functionality.

Some of them do seem good. I tried the Polestar 3 (EX90 in Polestar clothing I believe) - it was OK but £££. Current top of my list is the Polestar 4.

No comments here yet about Musk calling Trumps 'big beautiful bullshit bill' a 'disgusting abomination'?

Is he just being performative? He's right in some regard. Trump is a disgusting abomination of a human being.

half of trump's cabinet are off their heads in one way or another, Trump himself is often incoherent and ilogical.... its a circus of the deranged, but the media just seems to ignore it, in that context musk looking like gis dealer beat him up is standard.

No argument from me there! TACO D doing with Muskrat what he does with everyone who sucks up to him; once they’ve stopped being useful they get dumped in the shitter.

I'm assuming he is now turning on the presidency and his team as all his work to save government money is about to go up in a cloud of smoke?

He was brought in and bigged up as a saviour-type person and all that work has been destroyed.

I can see why he is cheesed off...if he does devote the same level of persuasion to the opposite team then I suspect things are going to change dramatically by the mid-term stuff.

I'm saying all that but don't really follow all the chat around it all.

He does seem to have put Tesla on a shaky peg and I do think he needs to be taken down a peg or 2, but there are many others I'd say the same about.

Not bothered this really, but I do hope he turns this around and it absolutely smashes Trumps hold...if Tesla goes down with that, I'm not going to feel sorry for Musk (although there will be many people out of jobs and that is never good).

There are those persistent rumours around that the election result was "adjusted" in some key states. I wonder if Elon was involved. If so, Trump might be reluctant to have a go at him.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a shit about saving the government money. It's going to end up costing way more in the long term as all these federal agencies cease to function properly. Then his companies (starlink, space X, etc) would be perfectly placed to take over those roles/contracts.

Billionaires are not interested in improving the lives  of poor people.

Seeing how retrained Trump is in response to Musks criticism to the Big Beautiful Bill; i think its merely a play by both to get Musk safely distanced from Trump to save his companies.

There are a lot worse things in the BBB than the amount of `Pork` in it. Those states benefiting from that certainly will not be too upset about it .. and those mainly democratic states missing out are hardly a concern.

Finally!

Been waiting for this to kick off properly for weeks.

Given the fact that Tesla stock is down 15% TODAY the markets seem to be putting their money on Trump but I'm just hoping it goes the distance.

This is amazing to watch and it's only just started.

Let's face it, pretty much everyone knew this was going to happen, they are both power mongers and were never going to stay mates for long.

Interestingly the tech guy that Yusuf brought in to head the UK DOGE train of madness has also quit today along  with him.

This could prove inconvenient to Reform led Kent County Council that have cancelled all budgetary meetings until DOGE has "audited" the council. 😉

Loving that Reform's whole political model is based upon Trump and Musk... Inconvenient!

Genuinely fascinating stuff. I hope it's just Musk doing Musk things and not part of a calculated plan to get Vance into power. I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

I think it really is just as chaotic as it looks. Didn't trump compare Ukraine and Russia as kids fighting in a playground earlier today? Amazing lack of self awareness.

 Anyway...

Yes, Vance could well end up being the beneficiary of all this in the next GE where I reckon he will be the new MAGA Messiah. Let's hope NAGA had eaten itself by then!

This spat also helps undermine Reform UK so it's a win, win. They are completely wed to the MAGA brand.

Looks like both will be making a saving in Xmas cards going forward! 🤣

If Musk really does have some dirty secrets on Mr Tango, he might want to cross the border, before he gets an all inclusive trip to El Salvador.
