looking to replace an electric shower, whats good and bad?

Currently have a 9.5km triton ivory which is running hot and cold and was in the house when we moved in. Wanting to replace it with a decent shower as we will be here for a while. Spotted a mira sport with air boost from screw fix https://www.screwfix.com/p/mira-sport-max-with-airboost-white-9kw-manual-electric-shower/9694f which looked nice with a big flow rate(may just be the advertising) however it doesn't look like it will be a straight swap since electric and water come in on opposite sides to what there at the moment.....I don't know how big a job it would be to switch it over? I see mira do a multi fit in the jump and sport models which may be an easier fit but don't know if they are as good as the one above?

Any advice on what to look for or recommendations for a good one?

They are all very similar inside. The heating element body is the same throughout the range, so a £50 shower will have the same internals as the £200 one, but the £200 one will look nicer and have more lights, and probably a thermostatic control.
Any make that is a true 9kw will have the same flow rate as a different brand. They usually quote 9kw at 240volts. If your voltage is lower, it;ll be less than 9kw, though you wont notice the difference.
Getting a similar pipe run is advantageous, as it's a right pain rerouting the pipe in a small gap through a tiled wall.

Try to find a data sheet for the shower online. Most new showers now allow for multiple entry points for cable and pipe.

I bought exactly the same model as I was replacing when I changed ours last year so that I knew all of the connections would be in the same place.

Swapped the mother in laws last year. Same make, model, rating etc.
Makers had changed water inlet from straight to right angled so a job that should have taken an hour turned into a shift trawling diy stores and much faffing about. Beware.

Triton have a good helpline who will take the model number of your current shower and tell you which of the current range have the same connection dimensions, and sell you one of those over the phone too if you need it.

We were reccommended a Mira Sport by the plumber who did our bathrooms. Unfortunately I forgot what he said & bought a Triton something or another, It wasn't working properly (nothing to do with the installation) so I phoned Triton who sent a guy out (in a suit!) who replaced something. Very good service, (even though It shouldn't have been faulty to start with obs.)
As said, make sure it doesn't turn into a nightmare swap.

Don't try to swap inlet side, it's too much work for no return.
I've got a Mira Sport 9kW, it's fine. The airboost function is too noisy to use all the time IMO. I wanted the higher power one but the cable was only 6mm CSA, and the water pressure/flow not up to serving it well enough.

We replaced our Mira this year with another Mira , the old one lasted ten years , and was only replaced because the case broke and it was hanging off the wall .

Mira do the jump and sport in multi fit which would save any pipe changes.

Any other brands/models to check or are mira the best?

I've just had a Mira Event thermostatic one fitted, had one fitted in a previous house. It has a separate Stop function which I find useful when hair washing, press when you want the water to start again and, as there's a separate temperature control, it means the water is the same temperature as before. Helps with saving water.

We got a Mira Sport Airboost 10.9kw or some such this year when we had the bathroom renewed. Its a belter, the airboost never gets used. Bought online in April for approx £210

Previously we had a Triton, I twice replaced it over 12 years with either the same model, or on ringing the (as pointed out above) rather helpful helpline who gave me advice on finding a shower with the same footprint connections wise.

I’ve got a Triton 9.5kw shower which is unopened, didn’t need it for my house renovation in the end so it’s for sale cheap. It’s a t80 thermostatic model, want £100 for it (£150 in screwfix).
