just seen it through the clouds a few times, my patience was rewarded, horrible cloud up here in glasgow though! 🙁

Agree 99 was better!

Peering through 2 pairs of sunglasses gave an excellent view in my office. Nobody had thought to do the same so had to hand them round to over 30 people, hope I don't get headlice!!

Remarkably light where I am in Suffolk.

The birds didn't seem to even notice.

Agree with the above not as good as 99.

Fife had a good amount of cloud cover (theres ****in surprise) but it meant the eclipse was easily watched without filters.

Surprised that it didn't go all that dark here when the clouds had cleared.

I thought it would go darker too. The local birds obviously thought it had mind, they went very noisy.

Wonderful clear skies near Cannock Chase:

Remarkably undark, really.

yes, but interesting tones of light.
Just remembered I have an old x-ray film in my office (mine) to use as a filter, took it out to where I could see the sun and could have made a fortune charging for views. Great stuff.

Don't worry people, I've sacrificed a few hundred virgins and now the sun's returning.

It's was tricky finding them but fortunately there's a Forbidden Planet round the corner.

Cloudy in Newcastle. About 150 people standing in Times Square about to be disappointed

Well we weren't disappointed.

That was brilliant. Nothing like seeing the solar system in action.

If you thought it was boring or dull, you're dead to me.

You were in the wrong part of Fife ,it was perfect in StAndrews 😛

Seagulls went a bit noisy, but it didn't get as dark as in 99.

Nowhere near as clear as 99 but we got a good view from the roof of our office in central glasgow. The cloud completely obscured it at points then filtered enough to make it viewable with a couple of brief completely clear spells. Awe inspiring viewing.

Just getting off the M1 onto the slip road and a bird flew straight into my windscreen, which is rare and startled me a bit. Just getting towards the roundabout on the same slip road and another flew within a foot of the windscreen. Just weird. I think the birds must be a bit confused 😕

Didn't get any good pictures, although a friendly neighborhood cat decided to come and play with the projection from my binoculars!

The darkness was really noticeable here, especially when I went back out 10 minutes later, noticed the brightness again.

Well that's that for 11 years (which will probably be the last time most of us will ever see one).

At least our pics are of the current eclipse and taken in this country (unlike yours)

Got a surprisingly good view of it in Marsden. Hardly any cloud at all once you got out of the valley, it looked ace. A certain very excited 6yo boy got to go in to school late after watching the action through eclipse glasses and with pinhole projection from the top of a hill. Sometimes being a dad is alright. 8)

That easyjet flight looks like it was fun!

This was my best effort (on the Downs in Bristol). Wasn't as dark as I thought it would get, but all the dogs went off.

Some nice views with and without the solar filter through broken cloud. Probably the best way to view outside of totality in my view, The right level of cloud gives a nice change from the filter.
I've been lucky enough to see some lovely eclippses (sp) but never had a clear view of the corona. Fingers crossed for the next time.

Quality near Holmfirth with completely clear skies from about 0915-1000. Kids got an extra hour off school as I didn't want to leave it to chance that the clouds would be clear or the teachers would give a stuff. Thumbs up at Mintimperial.

Specs all round and even a spare pair doctored to fit over the front of the binoculars.

Proper awesome.

It was quite cloudy in West Lancs but the temperature drop was very noticable.

That was incredible, from the top of the Pentlands. Beautiful stuff before a full pelt charge down the hill.

Apocalyptic Downhill. Awesome.

The cloud cleared in Bristol and its a stunning day now. I was up on a roof and got some good views looking through some eclipse specs, although I was expecting a repeat of 99 when it got quite dark.

I seem to recall Devon & Cornwall were the best viewing spots that year, whereas the South didn't get as much coverage this time. Still good fun though and the birds seemed to be a bit freaked out when I was walking into work.
