...with kids and bikes on the roof.

We've some time to kill before a ferry and wondered where woudl be both kid friendly and also have a car park outside so we could keep an eye on. Gunwharf looked the obvious choice but I think the parking there is away from the restaurants.

many thanks

Not sure you're supposed to put your kids on the roof!
Gun Wharf parking is either underground with height limit, or 'overflow' one which is flat rate of £5, opposite the taxi rank at the front. Both are not visible from any of the eateries, but covered by CCTV and the overflow often has vans or cars with stuff on them, presumably doing the same thing.
Not sure where will be tbh. Maybe somewhere in Southsea, one of the cafe bar type places on Albert Rd or Elm Grove, perhaps a Southsea local can suggest somewhere? Might be possible to park outside somewhere down there.

Parking is underground gubwharf so I don't know where you got that idea!
Off to the Isle of Wight?

There is above ground parking, I put my van in it most days when working on Spinnaker. You take the left hand lane just before the two lanes go into the underground car park, past the side of M&S, swing back round to the right and the car park is on your right, with taxi rank opposite. £5 flat fee pay & display, unlike the pay as you leave underground one.
As for Micks, got to be a monster burger! Or maybe the Churchillian opposite it? Average food but car park almost directly in front of it.

Having lived in Pompey, I wouldn't leave the bikes out of sight... And parking can be a 'mare in Southsea.

If off to the IoW, the A Bar pub near the ferry used to be good, if seated in right place can see parking out the front (if parking available).

You could always whip them off the roof (before someone else does) and lock them to the barriers outside the restaurants by the spinnaker tower, will still be in sight for the meal.

Micks is a good shout...

Park on Southsea seafront and get some fish n chips to eat where you can keep the bikes in sight.
There are a few places on Albert Road but you'd be lucky to park where you can keep an eye on the bikes. And you should.
