So, my left ear has been blocked for 4 weeks. The Olive oil / Earex remedy's are audibly shifting something around, but its still blocked.

Is there anything else I can try? :-/

Just get it flushed. Had mine done for the first time a few weeks back before long flight. Amazing what it's like to hear again ๐Ÿ™‚

Found it made my commute a bit dodgy not being able to hear cars!

Try an ear candle. They don't half clean your ears out!

EarCalm spray works for me, when its really blocked you have to help it out ,though i'm told it's a big no no, with rolled up tissue. Never used to get ear wax build up when I used to swim every day.

Had my ears tested last week, as a work requirement, and the tester said mine were really nice and clean; probably due to wearing earphones with long, triple-flange eartips. I've quite often taken them out and found lumps of wax on them, so they seem to do a pretty neat job, as well as sounding better.

Stick some oil in first - almond oil or something.

Any hard wax and the nurse will just send you straight home telling you to stick some oil in - save yourself a visit.

I did my own a few years back

The Earex was causing some gurgling but not much else so I just took a big syringe and a bowl of warm water and blasted the wax out - easy ๐Ÿ™‚

I've been doing that for 9 days now.

I think I see the problem.

Your ear is full of oil.

If you live in North Wales I can remove earwax using a propulse irrigation machine, ear syringing should not be used anymore.

Nurses at our local docs only syringe after two weeks of drops / almond oil to soften it all up...

Have you tried Otex?
It disolves the wax.

Failing that see the nurse. I get mine syringed every year because i have narrow ear canals and swim a lot, but you should put oil in first else it really hurts and is sore afterwards.

Why so flippinhecker?

I'm about to ask the GP to syringe my left ear after Otex and Earex have both failed to do the job.

(right ear has never needed any work since it needed doing in Thailand 10 yrs ago )

You know the dispensers that Otex comes in? I fill that with warm water and blast water in several times, you will eventually see the big glupe of wax come out.

Maybe unorthodox, maybe not so safe but it works every time for me.

My doctor once used a long spoon handle type implement to scoop my ear wax out.
It was divine ๐Ÿ˜€

When I went on my wax removal course at Aston uni the nurse practitioner said syringing had been banned due to the amount of damage done to eardrums with perforations and the high pressure that syringe can force water down the ear canal, much safer methods now available depending on gp practice.

yes they use those electronic irrigation machines now that can vary the temperature and intensity of the water.
But it doesn't swoosh around your brain like the old fashioned method felt like.

When I first had mine done it was like someone had turned the world up.
The first night I was able to hear my supposedly straight laced Indian neighbours. The phrase "I am a tiger" is now used before any kind of sauciness.

The problem with being a tiger in bed is when your missus is just lion there.

Had to get my ear syringed cos I got an infection on holiday about 10 years ago. The sensation of relief as the warm water feels like its cleaning your whole head out is amazing! Havent had to get it done since, but I was in serious pain back then... I swear a couple of spuds came out amongst about half a pound of prime grade fertiliser!
