Despite the warnings of meltdown/armageddon, given the economic performance of these countries since the austerity has been centrally imposed, is it really going to be that bad?

It may well be initially, but if Europe is then forced to change policy by its electorate, so rather than studiously ignoring them, it has to stop running the whole gravy train for the sole benefit of the technocrats and bankers, it may work out in the end. Possibly

Well UKIP got less than 2% of the vote on London last Thursday, so hardly impressive.

Of course as I said they probably lost most of their votes because they forgot to tell people what party they are in. I guess a fair few posh racists must have voted BNP when they couldn't see the UKIP candidate. That must have boosted the BNP vote - they got 1.30% and came last !

Farage is almost a "caricature" for sure (Partridge/Ferrel!!), but Ernie its a bit sad if your normal incisive debating style lowers itself to:

1. Choice of clothing - good job it was a blazer, just think what accusations would be made if you had picked up on other styles of clothing!

If you look at the 2009 Euro elections, their support was between 10% and 22% across England, their lowest result was approx. 10% in London, their highest were in the South West and the West Midlands
