Is the fact I was told correct, that when you are at the top of Pen Y Fan there is no higher land due east or west until you get to Mongolia in the east and the Rockies to the west?
My world atlas isn't that accurate, but seems to back up the general possibility.
Any ideas if it's true?

I can see how you'd be too far north to meet the Laurentians in Quebec, but wouldn't the Urals in Russia get in the way?
