Evening all, We're supposed to be driving up to Patterdale in the Lake District from Bristol on Friday night for a weeks mountain biking holiday. Does any one know what the roads are like up there? Been looking forward to it for ages!
Would you not be better waiting until Saturday morning? I'm not there but you can be pretty sure that things will be tricky and driving in daylight in the Lakes in this weather is probably the best advise I can give.
It's changing all the time. I'm due to drive across the Lakes past Penrith in the morning, so can update, but all roads are open (if not advisable), though Shap summit on the M6 is dodgy.
We are up in the Lakes this weekend for biking and walking (although after just threading my BB, it may just be walking). We are staying in Ambleside and apparently the roads are ok.
Dumping down with snow in Keswick at tea time - I gave up on heading east to Penrith. Hope you made it.
