So did anyone else ride it? I rode the gran fondo - really enjoyed it. Great organization and perfect weather. The devils elbow was err fun - well would have been if I wasn't 140km deep in the race 🙂 the reversed route was better than last year as you got 2 of the major climbs out of the way on fresh legs.
Signed up for next year the day after !
My 4th one through the years. The fastest I've done (still slow). Prefer rhigos and bwlch from the other direction, but can't complain really. Expect next year will follow a big chunk of the tour stage, should be good.
2nd time on the gran fondo here. Preferred this years route, as the last years rhingos climb was just soul destroying... signed up for next years gran fondo, and the grand plan is the devil in 2028.

I agree that the climbs this year were a much more agreeable way around. Climb up the black mountain was tough and devil's elbow can bugger off :). Apart from that I really enjoyed all of them. I would like to do devil's elbow again but with less mileage in my legs on the day.
I realised that quite a lot of people signed up for the devil ride but didn't ride it. At the split point of medio and grand I almost went left with the medio fondo people as I was in a peloton with mainly grand and devil ride people. Every single one of them went left on the medio fondo route..... Then where the split was to go off onto the devil ride load to the devil ride people stayed with me on the grandfondo route.
Unethical, but the easiest way to get the cover to devil medal is sign up for it but actually ride the different route 🙂
I'm going to do the grandfondo again next year but this time I'm not gonna stop at any of the stops and just try push it the whole way. Just eat on the bike and only stop for a loo break.
Minimal stoppage is the key. That and being much fitter lol
