Well if you read what he wrote then he either has a disturbing view on consent with regards to sexual assault or is willing to give that impression in order to keep up his troll.

I read what he said very carefully and he may have a disturbing view- but that was it.
Threatening someone is not the smartest move if you want a thread to remain open

Agreed but a collective punishment rather than a ban for those involved would seem a more appropriate response
Again, not excusing the handbags that were thrown underarm in the thread, but a warning/temp ban just to nudge people back on track would have sufficed.

And yet the culprit is still posting

And the "victim*" is not
Makes you think ™

* perhaps they thought he was the victim of extreme goading /trolling

Seemed pretty clear he was after a [emotional] response from someone - I declined

Truthfully i think he is capable of some well reasoned points, has excellent sources and an impressive knowledge base but too often he just posted anything to provoke "lefties" which came to mean anyone not pleased with Trump.

I turned away in disdain a few times, but turned away in disgust when ninfan was accused of being a rape apologist.

He literally said that if a woman lets you do something, they've consented. I don't know if that was a troll, or if he actually thinks it's right, but either way- urgh.

Sticks and stones don't hurt STW bones but little words will alway hurt us 😉

A chat forum on which it's impossible to discuss the two most visible leaders of the Anglo-Saxon world. The noisy aggressive pro-TM and DT minority has won. criticism of TM and DT is no longer possible here.

It wasn't really going anywhere to be fair, but it was an entertaining and interesting thread.

Well, if the best the anti-DT faction can come up with is threats of violence against other posters, why should they be given a platform?

It's not impossible to discuss Theresa May either. It's just that many of the threads were re-hashing the EU referendum thread.

How can Nifan be accused of being anything? His STW persona is to pick at others posts whilst never making a personal opinion/statement of what he/she believes.

Nifan must be pleased to have this happen. Likes to get a rise out of people.

Obviously the mod in question thought sticking a knife in the football, was better than sending the player off.

Likes to get a rise out of people.

He gets a rise out of me.....just not the sort he is expecting.

considering they are letting the usual suspects discuss their decision its pretty unfair critique of STW/moderation.
I like the openness of the debate they allow on here and lets face it we do need moderation [ well some of us anyway ...guilty face goes here]

As I understand the system, folks only get banned or possibly deleted, If they receive a complaint. It could be that someone complained about the 'victim' but not the culprit

I thought the best the anti-DT faction have come up with is pointing out the many ways in which The Donald is an utter dick.

Was that a semantic argument? Because 'let' surely is consent, isn't it?

Are you a moderator, Scotroutes?

I wondered why this TM thread and others got closed. When Cougar closes a thread because of duplication he says as much.

Did they have enough control to "let", and therefore give consent to, you?
Letting you because you're famous is all a bit Rolf Harris if you ask me, and that didn't end well.

If I have a knife to your throat and you "let" me rob you..not sure it would be much of a defence for me.

No, to let something happen doesn't necessarily confirm consent. A person that lets a rape or assault happen may well do so because they fear the potentially greater consequences of putting up a struggle. Or they may be hoping that the quickest way to end the ordeal is to comply.

Well this seems to be the jist of the argument against, but surely what you talk about then is being forced and that isn't 'let'

Why would someone be a mod by stealth? Why not put it in profile?

A lady escaped a serial killer because she was compliant and calm during the rape and repeatedly told him she wouldn't tell anybody about what happened. It's thought she is the only one of his many rape victims who lived.

Let and consent are not the same thing..it's the reason the law states consenting.

I think it is but the problem arises because it's unlikely that both parties will see it in the same way. The aggressor may think that they were merely being strong and assertive whereas the victim may see that situation very differently.

The image of the strong man giving the woman what he thinks she secretly desires is one that's well ingrained into popular culture.

[edit]
Which I just realised brings us right back to Trump and his pussy grabbing antics.

Not sure you're in the right century...equally unsure as to what that has to do with consent.
