So you're not worried about all the allegations against Assad and Putin, let me guess it's all a media conspiracy and all the countries that think he's committed war crimes are lying and have underlying motives.

They can do as they wish because Syria has never been the alliance to the West.

The West can stay out rather than being the trouble makers like they already are by encouraging "democracy".

Stay out.

That's a reasonable assessment, other than the fact that all sides in all wars commit war crimes.

This is a particularly interesting article, which I suspect you won't read, written by the associate editor of The Spectator and a former chief political commentator for The Daily Telegraph, so someone who can probably be described as having Conservative views :

It’s time to judge Assad’s Aleppo campaign by the standards that we set ourselves in Mosul

I'm not naive enough to think that war crimes don't happen on both sides and I don't remember saying that only one side should be held accountable. But I don't think the US leaving would stop all the dreadful things happening and I certainly wouldn't be pro Putin or Assad as some people on here appear to be.

And given that Trump has openly said that he supports the use of torture "much stronger than waterboarding" and killing the civilian families of combatants, he'd be an odd choice if you want to end them.

Oh, look, you cherry picked your sources without commenting that Trump subsequently took advice from one of his experts and followed it

http://uk.businessinsider.com/james-mattis-trump-torture-2016-11?r=US&IR=T

Just imagine, a president who listens to the experts rather than entrench himself in dogma, who would have believed it?

Trump mocks reporter with disability

You think that people shouldn't be mocked, just because they have a disability? How demeaning is that?

I think the point is he shouldn't have even considered it in the first place, you shouldn't need to tell the president elect that he should be against war crimes.

C'mon the USA has been carrying out extra-judicial killings abroad for yonks. Usually with drones but sometimes up close and personal (OBL).

You mean like how Obama was going to close down Guantanamo?

I didn't cherry pick anything - I deliberately linked to FactCheck and PolitiFact coverage to be as neutral as possible.

Both stories were widely reported and you can listen to Trump say the words himself.

When challenged on both issues he became further entrenched and doubled down on his support.

He only moderated his viewpoint on torture after he was elected, as your link and the NY Times interview shows, as part of his more general rollback on his campaign issues.

no, you can mock them as much as you want, just dont use their disability to do it, the same as you wouldnt with their race or sexuality

thats pretty obvious, I shouldnt be surprised that needs explaining to you, but I am!

So what's your problem with that then?

you can mock someone with a disability. That's not the same thing as mocking them for their disability. But you knew that, right?

I was sure he was going to lose and really looking forward to this thread dying as a consequence.

Then he won. 🙁

Because all the conventional politicians didn't want to close it. Now a non establishment outsider will bring change...

...or something.

Another of Obama's heroic acts in his final days deliberately after the election so it would not affect the result is releasing people regarded as too dangerous to be released during the past 8 years of his Presidency.

On tha Golden Globes I though Hugh Lorrie was excellent ... I paraphrase "thanks for awarding me the last ever Golden Globe, I have a feeling that an award given by an organisation with the words Hollywood, Foreign and Journalist in the title may come to an end"

Streep made a fair enough point, another of Trump's low points. It was fair enough to critise or even mock the guy's reporting but the headshaking stuff crossed the line.

moar #jambafacts

the overwhelming number of convicts granted early release or pardoned happened long before the election

https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2016/12/19/president-obama-grants-153-commutations-and-78-pardons-individuals-deserving-second

Are you honestly trying to say he's released dangerous prisoners?

Anyone else surprised the next president of the USA is allowed to have a personal Twitter account?

I mean, he can't even take a mild ribbing from some celebrities without throwing his toys out the pram, so hows he going to manage doing real politics??

There is an official @POTUS account which Obama created in 2015:

[img] [/img]

Apparently the plan is that Obama hands over the account to Trump (along with the official Instagram and Facebook account) as part of the inauguration process.

But Trump already has a lot of followers on his @realDonaldTrump handle so he may just keep using that one.

Eight (8) years ahead of them.

They will suffer.

Haahahaahha, I love hearing you repeating all these reasons why Trump shouldn't be president, which just a couple of months ago you were giving as reasons why people would never vote for Trump as president.

D'oh! 😆

Who would have thought that Meryl Streep was anti Trump? She is a talented actress but just an actress - its not a proper job and she doesn't help people. and she has never stood for office or won an election - she should have zero airtime. Like all celebrities.

You are all soooo boring and predictable. Guess what? Maybe Trump will be a good president? Maybe people care about jobs being outsourced abroad etc etc.

He won, get over it.

Funny how all these lefties, after spending years telling us that we shouldn't trust the media, immediately gobble up the 'truth' that the media feeds them...

Media hijacks The Doughnuts' Twitter account, shocka!! 😯
Good to see you swallowing everything Donald, ninfan, I'm sure it'll work out well for you.
