Whiteness tampering in Georgia now
Saying 'He shouldn't testify' is pretty much as far from witness tampering as witness tampering gets. Possibly more to do with headline grabbing click baiting.
No doubt trump made the two posts which have been linked as 'Attacks judge' and 'Whiteness tampering'.
As an aside, what is 'whiteness tampering'? Is that what trump has been doing for his skin to become creosote coloured.
The hyperbolic interpretation of these posts bear little relation to the content and I cannot see any way in which the judge will look to censure or sanction trump.
The posts are stupid and will definitely not help trump's case .
Other than that, nothing to see here.
All the hosts on MTN are real lawyers, they actually know what they’re talking about, far more qualified than you lot or me 🤷♂️ if you watch the second video, the host breaks down the law, and relates it to what Trump posted. MTN are laser focused on Trumps criminality in a way that the Networks just aren’t.
Who are the hosts on MTN?
I ask because it would be interesting, for me, to read up on their backgrounds.
Ben Meisales is, I believe, a former lawyer.
His brothers, his fellow co-founders, are a video editor and marketing supervisor respectively.
I'll place my trust in the networks as they have a depth and breadth of expertise supplemented by broad access to external legal and constitutional experts.
All the hosts on MTN are real lawyers
Sydney Powell is a real lawyer. Rudolph Guliani is a real lawyer.
Also reported on CNN as “blatant whiteness tampering” - 🤷♂️
The Georgia indictment was briefly public earlier, I don't know the first thing about US law but it seems like they've gone all-in, biggest charge is RICO- racketeering and corruption, a serious felony and the sort of thing you usually see aimed at mob bosses. A whole lot of other conspiracy and solicitation charges, which apparently is as good as saying "we have coconspirators who've already flipped and testified". I'm sure he'll be very restrained and dignified about it
"BBC News North America Editor Sarah Smith is outside the courthouse, where the Georgia grand jury is still listening to witness testimony.
Smith says there was a flurry of excitement earlier when it looked like charges had appeared on the court website, but it turned out to be "fake news"."
@Northwind: seems the indictment posted earlier was false/pre-mature...(my bold above)
Saw that but doesn't necessarily mean it differs much from any indictment which may drop; the 'fake news' document, apparently, listed forgery as part of the charge sheet.
I anticipate that Judge McBurney won't hesitate to issue a protective order as soon as trump comments - as he is 100% certain to do.
Interesting to note that the Georgia charges - if any are brought - are 'state level' which means that trump, if re-elected, will be unable to pardon himself or instruct any of his administration to do so either.
Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles will decide - see extracts below:
The Board is the primary authority in Georgia assigned the power to grant pardons, paroles, and other forms of clemency. Parole is the discretionary decision of the Board to release a certain offender from confinement after the offender has served an appropriate portion of a prison sentence. Persons on parole remain under state supervision and control according to conditions that, if violated, allow for re-imprisonment.
Georgia is one of nine (9) states in the United States with a Board of Pardons and Paroles that exclusively grants all state pardons. Alabama (Board of Pardons and Paroles), Connecticut (Board of Pardons and Paroles), Idaho (Commission of Pardons and Paroles), Minnesota (Board of Pardons), Nebraska (Board of Pardons), Nevada (Board of Pardon Commissioners), South Carolina (Board of Probation, Parole, and Pardon), and Utah (Board of Pardons and Paroles) are the other eight (8) states in the United States with similar state boards.
A pardon is an official statement attached to the criminal record that states that the State of Georgia has pardoned the crime. To apply, the applicant must wait until at least five years have elapsed since the applicant was released from supervision (including probation and/or parole).
Clemency is given by the board at its discretion. The Board has the sole constitutional authority to commute death sentences to either life imprisonment or life without parole. Georgia is one of the three states whose governor does not have the authority to grant clemency, although the governor retains indirect influence by virtue of his power to appoint board members.
Whiteness tampering in Georgia now 🤷♂️🤦🏻♂️
Black and white criminal conduct.
Court is in session and judge is now on his bench so...indictment incoming.
10 indictments.
Reuters are standing by it, saying that no charges have been brought yet but that the document was posted on the Fulton County DA's office website then removed. Guess we'll see if it matches up soon enough
Washington Post reporting an indictment.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/08/14/trump-georgia-election-investigation/
An Atlanta-area grand jury returned an indictment Monday night after hearing from witnesses earlier in the day in the probe into whether former president Donald Trump and his associates broke the law when they sought to overturn Trump’s 2020 election loss in Georgia. Who has been indicted and the exact charges are not yet known.
From the Washington Post
An Atlanta-area grand jury indicted former president Donald Trump and 18 of his associates on criminal charges related to their efforts to overturn Trump’s 2020 election loss in Georgia, according to documents made public Monday night.
The charges came after a high-profile investigation, led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis (D), and a marathon day in which multiple witnesses were spotted at the Fulton County Courthouse, signaling that investigators were closer to unveiling an indictment — Trump’s fourth since leaving office. The grand jury returned an indictment at around 9 p.m. Monday but the document was not made public until about two hours later.

Also, committing a crime is a clear violation of his release conditions in the Jan 6th indictment.
'Innocent' until proven guilty.
I don’t think that applies to bail conditions though.
I would love to see Trump locked but I do worry that it lead to some serious trouble in the US and the vacuum filled by an even worse right wing nut job.

Damned if you do, half a dozen of the other.
If you try convict and sentence Trump there will be rioting and people are going to lose their lives. If you don't do those things, you're admitting that the US is no longer a democracy and is becoming a dictatorship.
I would love to see Trump locked but I do worry that it lead to some serious trouble in the US and the vacuum filled by an even worse right wing nut job.
If prosecuting criminals leads to their supporters causing trouble, you just gotta deal with the trouble. Otherwise you'll never be able to prosecute anyone.
The thing with Trump is, he doesn't have policy goals that he wants to implement, he just has grievances. He's popular with his base because he's quite a talented showman and he articulates the grievances they feel. People like Ron Desantis hope to inherit his MAGA base voters and have an agenda they want to implement, but that's why the base don't like them. They try to put on a show of being the champion of the little guy, etc. but they all went to elite universities, most have law degrees, and they just suck at the showmanship side of things. (FFS, watch some videos of Desantis trying to pretend he's a normal guy, it's just painful.) They think Trump voters want to hear about polices, they don't, they want to hear about grievances and they want to be entertained.
Placating the Nutters is NEVER the answer.
If you try convict and sentence Trump there will be rioting and people are going to lose their lives.
There was a senator on channel 4 news the other week who said that the worse case scenario is civil war. Not long ago making a claim like that would seem utterly preposterous but given the millions of paranoid, conspiracy theorising, thick-as-shit, right-wing nutjobs, who possess more firearms than all the European armies combined, who knows what they could do? They hardly held back last time, did they?
Because one things for sure, Trump will go all out in inciting them to do something completely insane because he just doesn't care
Placating the Nutters is NEVER the answer.
Just look at the STW Jeremy Corbyn thread....
watch some videos of Desantis trying to pretend he’s a normal guy, it’s just painful
But can he eat a sandwich?

My son attenfed the 2019 Scout jamboree in the US and met lots of American kids from both sides. He came home convinced that there would some kind of armed conflict in the not too distant future.
If you try convict and sentence Trump there will be rioting and people are going to lose their lives.
I'm not so sure. His supporters outside courts have been heavily outnumbered by press. I think people will vote for him but I don't think that many will riot for him.
Because one things for sure, Trump will go all out in inciting them to do something completely insane because he just doesn’t care
He's been doing that every time he's been hauled into court but the crowds of supporters never showed up. I think his supporters actually learned from the January 6 insurrection that they face serious jail time for lawbreaking and they're much more into cosplaying than doing actual jail time.
A chunky proportion - say, 30% - of the US adult population appear not to trust in the justice system.
Is that a good indicator of a failing/failed democracy?
I would say yes, it is.
Is there a way back? Not IMO - even if trump was never seen or heard ever again.
I think his supporters actually learned from the January 6 insurrection that they face serious jail time for lawbreaking and they’re much more into cosplaying than doing actual jail time.
Agreed.
Might it also be that some of the republicans now see past all this - they support an "extreme" view of the world/US/Politics, but are realising that support for Trump himself may ultimately be fruitless?
I do wonder how many discussions there are among republicans about how to come out of this clean and not be dragged down with the orange turd on his 10th flush...
Just listening to Americast on BBC Sounds and its insane. Truly unhinged
Its not just Trump, its a large chunk of Republican senators who are still advocating the theory that Trump won the election, it was stolen from him and this is all a grand conspiracy by the state. Clearly there are millions who are only too ready to believe that
Have a listen to this one, The News Agents USA, some really good insights on the insanity.
Well Trump may not be a legal candidate according to the 14th amendment - though there would have to be a legal challenge each state.
What would another Trump win mean for the rest of the world?

BBC reporting he's holding a news conference Monday to unveil the report that will show the election was stolen and exonerate him.
Where can I buy popcorn from by the tonne?
Coming soon...
Trump says he will host news conference on Monday
A few moments ago, Donald Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying he would hold a news conference in New Jersey on Monday. He wrote: "A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete & will be presented by me at a major News Conference at 11:00 A.M. on Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey.
"Based on the results of this CONCLUSIVE Report, all charges should be dropped against me & others - There will be a complete EXONERATION!
"They never went after those that Rigged the Election. They only went after those that fought to find the RIGGERS!"
He then posted again one minute later writing "witch hunt" in capital letters.
MCTD - I think tj has cornered the market for bulk deliveries of popcorn and I've got the hobnobs.

Gah - just Ryvita for the rest of us. Again. When will we learn.
“A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT....
Yes Donald, that's gonna be some hilarious reading...
BBC reporting he’s holding a news conference Monday to unveil the report that will show the election was stolen and exonerate him.
Thats a REPORT not a mere report.
I am sure him doing a press conference will go down a treat with the judge.
And that's the last us sane folk will ever hear about this nonsense, but for all the Trumpers out there they've now heard there is a report that totally exonerates him and that's all the proof they need.
Thats a REPORT not a mere report.
Not to be confused with
“witch hunt” in capital letters.
which is very different to 'WITCH HUNT'
Would be amusing if Mark or one of his IT elves could arrange to randomly CAPITALISE words in posts.
11am over there will be 4pm here; right, that's my late afternoon sorted on Monday.
Should be a giggle.
