Something I missed in that Wallace interview was the end of the interview where Trump was given the opportunity to summaries his achievements - despite a tougher grilling than he's used to on Fox at the end he's never the less given the change to talk about legacy - list the things he thinks or hopes his presidency will be remembered for. As someone who's always been so quick to say that nobody has done more on [insert: Russian / China / Healthcare / Jobs /Keepie Uppie /the Economy / Race Relations / Prize Winning Marrows] than him - given an open invitation to boast all he can do is snivel about how unfairly he's been treated, rattle off a list of bogie men who've been mean to him and so on.
Asked the question not a single proud achievement came to mind.

IMO he is now positioning to scrap the election, even Trump and his team of sycophants must realise that the goon squads would increase opposition. The numbers are getting so bad, even voter suppression won't make a dent, his plans are far worse than that.
The thing is though, the military top brass have already shown a willingness to push back against his orders, in fact that's why I think that "federal" officers are being used rather than the military, I just hope it is largely unanimous within the military leaders. Now we also have to see if the federal organisations being misused have leaders with backbone, if they will uphold the constitution ahead of a tyrannical president.

It needs the military and law enforcement to turn against him. It looks like the police unions are on his side. The military leadership look like they will disobey unconstitutional orders, but will they get involved to prevent others from doing so? It could get very nasty very quickly.

It's very interesting though how these things overlap. Like, Trump and others assume that this is a purely party/ideological left/right split, but a lot of the constitutional fundamentalists are very against any suggestion of the increase of the president's powers, and very pro state's rights, and very very against having masked men in unmarked uniforms throwing people into the back of vans. A lot of people do manage mental gymnastics like being a constitutional fundamentalist on things like gun control but really not bothered about other people's freedom of speech being suppressed, but not all.
Watching videos like the one above, if one person gets trigger happy is it not going to kick off like some kind of civil war?

There is a big difference.
While Trump is Commander-in-Chief there is the spurious argument that the Federal agents are obeying the orders they are given; however disgraceful they are.
In January, without an election, Trump will no longer be President, and no longer the Chief, so no longer able to give orders to Govt forces. Once a civilian, they would rightly ignore his ramblings and look to Congress for instructions.

I was listening to the Americast podcast last night - worth a listen.
They had an analyst/commentator on there saying that Trump can reliably count on 35% of voters to back him no matter what - his problem is getting enough of the rest on his side.
My problem is that 35% of Americans can have heard the ramblings of that bellend for the last 6 years (4 in office, 2 campaigning for office) and think him worthy of the highest office in the land. I know it's guilt by association but when I hear an american accent and know there is a 1 in 3 chance they are an ironed on Trump supporter I can't help but start from a position of thinking of them as a moron or at the very least a thoroughly dislikable person. They need to win me over before I can have any respect for them rather than starting with an open mind and going downhill from there. My prejudice I appreciate.
