who are otherwise seemingly rational think Trump “isn’t that bad”. People just ignore what doesn’t suit them.

Sort of sounds a bit like Germany in the 1930s......

But it is MSNBC, just part of the failed lame media. I think while we would consider them big business corporaist media, in the US they are seen as socialist.

That "Trumps head on a scene from a movie" just demonstrates one thing, and that is that there is no real Trump speach he can link to which makes him seem "Presidential". The fact he has to rely on "made up" glory really tells us everything we need to know......

My partners American, peeps in her family who are otherwise seemingly rational think Trump “isn’t that bad”. People just ignore what doesn’t suit them.

Same with my family in the US. When Covid was kicking off here in Feb I spoke to them asking what was happening there and was told 'media fake news'. Was amazed.

One of my team at work her girlfriend is American lives in New Jersey. The thought of hers and her family is Trump is dangerous and unhinged.

a bit of sexy time with Melania?

I like Family Guy's depiction of Melania (To Peter); "Kill him and I will do the sex with you"

MSNBC have versions of Trump that they track. They single out 'sweaty Trump', agitated, hyper and sniffs a lot. Hard to see what they are alluding to...

Yeah, I saw that.

Can anyone tell me what he seeks to gain by promoting that anti malarial?

Or is out simply one of those things he just totally fixates on, a bit like he is with Obama?

If true, it would appear there is no limit to what he will do to keep himself front and centre in news.

Nope, I don’t believe he’s taking hydroxychroloquine, the White House doctor would have to sanction the use and ultimately take the blame if tinker bell developed adverse side effects. He’s trying to shill pills as his mates have obviously bought a shitload on the promise that they’d make a return on initial cost.

Trump just’a shilling as a trump does best

He doesn't have the leadership skills or the inclination to do the actual hard work required to tackle the virus, so he's gambling that it's a miracle cure and he ends up looking like the cleverest guy in the room.
And of course...

WH doctor sanctioned it:

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/498429-white-house-doctor-potential-benefit-of-trump-taking

He really is taking that stuff.

The side effects are pretty wild.

But apparently the side effects don't include curing Covid19:
https://www.bmj.com/content/369/bmj.m1844
https://www.bmj.com/content/369/bmj.m1849

Administration of hydroxychloroquine did not result in a significantly higher probability of negative conversion than standard of care alone in patients admitted to hospital with mainly persistent mild to moderate covid-19. Adverse events were higher in hydroxychloroquine recipients than in non-recipients.

Excellent.

Maybe he could start hawking homeopathic cures for C19 next.

At least they'd do nothing and have no side effects.

They’ll be one hell of a tweet storm when he wakes up

Hopefully, one day, he won't.

@dazh

You miss the point, though. The target audience don't get to see news. They don't seek it out nor is it provided to them. They have their own existing prejudices played back to them as 'news' via social media. They are even further down this path than we are in the UK. I'll give the cynical shits like Cummings and Bannon some credit because they saw the potential in this co-opted brainwashing and bloody hell have they used it.

So he's been taking hydroxychloroquine for a fortnight....just in case the increased chances of liver damage, suicide or heart complaints don't get him, can someone suggest he tries his other pet cure out soon.....syringes and the stuff itself are readily available.

If you read the letter Trumps doctor wrote, do you notice something? At no point does it actually say the Doctor prescibed hydroxychloroquine or that Trump is actually taking hydroxychloroquine!

It's a carefully weasle worded letter, designed to make stupid people who can't read assume things they shouldn't assume.

It mentioned that the Doctor and Trump "discussed" the drug, but that's it.

Direct Quote:

"After numerous discussions he and I had regarding the evidence for and against the use of hydroxychloroquine, we concluded the potential benefit from the treatment outweighed the relative risks"

As diplomatic as always. Wacko? This WHO and China situation makes me cringe. Yeah, we need to review what happened, but just crack on and sort the health emergency first.

Made me smile this week, Trump started to say he was considering funding WHO again, but would only pay as much as China. China then announced it was going to pay $2 billion over 2 years.

This seems to have triggered the angry letter to the WHO - which the Lancet wasn't too impressed to be named in, so they corrected Trump.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/may/20/florida-scientist-dr-rebekah-jones-fired-refusing-change-covid-19-data-reopen-plan < Not Trump specifically but US politics

Just been speaking to someone about that in FL. She claims she was being told to alter the dates on COVID case data so that the graphs showed a nice downward trajectory to support their exit from lockdown.

Georgia had a similar thing, an x-axis on a graph was mixed up so it showed a downward trend. An honest mistake they say.

Hmmm. And they are pointing at China for lack of transparency?

To paraphrase himself, he could accuse someone of murder on Twitter and still not have his account banned.

Meanwhile, a QAnon supporter wins a Senate primary in Oregon. I notice her celebratory speech on Twitter has been taken down.

Seems ol’ tangerine face is very proud of winning Michigan’s ‘Man of the year’ Award* referencing it in a speech/rally there.

*Award does not exist, never has.

‘I tested very positively in another sense so-this morning. Yeah. I tested positively toward negative, right. So. I tested perfectly this morning. Meaning I tested negative.’

Whenever our govt pee me off, catching up on Trump cheers me up. So yesterday, Dr. Birx was wheeled out to go through some complicated charts and tell everyone it was OK to play golf and tennis.

Today...

It's the old problem of the real world having a liberal bias, isn't it.

Just more windbaggery from trump but it keeps his name in the media and reinforces his fake news/biased media bluster.

Don’t take the threat too lightly - all he has to do is call is friend Bill Gates and tell him to switch off the internet.

How does Trump's presidency work if he switches off Twitter?

Is that not like cutting off his own legs?

I’m waiting to see what his executive order will be, as above even he’s not dumb enough to actually want to shut Twitter down. I can see him trying to make it illegal to edit/add to his posts in any way (to stop them tagging on fact check links) but I can’t see how he has the power to do that, it’s a company not a public body

Because he feels social media outlets are guilty of censorship he's threatening them with censorship so that we'll have our freedom again.

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1265819308699070464

'freedom' is a curious phenomena in the hands of libertarians. We should be free to do whatever we want - unless other peoples freedoms impede my freedoms obviously - we should have regulations to prevent that.

The bloke really does think because he's president he can do what he likes. As for closing it down, that's a laugh, I'd like to know what power he has to do that and also is he willing to put about 4900 Twitter and tens of thousand Facebook employees out of work. Thing is though thinking about he's arrogant enough to do it.

Besides when you sign up to these platforms don't you have to tick a box to agree with the company's terms and conditions? So if you break their rules they have the right to censor you or even close your account down?
