Trump is having a good day, turns out President Joe Biden has just signed up to 'truth social' and is already laying into Trump. Top trolling 😀

I’m trying to avoid reading any articles about the Mango Mussolini and his KuKluxKlownshow followers and Repugnikkkants in general.
They are utterly useless and loathsome individuals who don’t deserve to be considered to be part of the human race. I’ll be back when I hear he’s been found guilty and given a thirty year sentence with possible release in twenty, if he behaves himself.

Which is unlikely.

Is it wrong to chuckle at such a great description of such dangerous people?

AIUI, a plea deal means that you are required to testify, which means you have to rat out your mates if you were part of a conspiracy.

Yeah, but how much credibility has she got really? I mean the whole world pretty much said at the time  - Are you mad? Including Fox News internal emails for goodness sake  Even Trump's team were trying to keep her away from microphones and the press when they realised she wasn't from planet earth.

Apparently her light sentence is because of the quality of evidence she has handed over implicating Trump and Meadows. Fingers crossed.

Not necessarily. It all depends on what you negotiate. Most prosecutions result in plea bargains, most plea bargains are just "you plead guilty to this, we drop that, the judge gives you whatever, and it's all finished".

Anything she says will be meaningless, she's got whatever the literal opposite of credibility is. But she might have actual evidence material which doesn't depend on her honesty/connection to reality.

trump's name does not feature in her plea documents and he wasn't referred to during the plea hearing.
The more interesting one is kenneth cheseboro and whether he cuts a last minute deal.

My favourite detail here is that, in return for a suspended sentence, she has 'agreed to testify truthfully at future trials' 🤣😂🤣

I would think her plea will only of been agreed if she has  actual evidence that can flip one of the other conspirators. Does not matter if it is trump I think the idea is that they flip enough of the lower level players to flip Meadows.

She is also required to write an apology letter to the citizens of the State of Georgia
Excellent,that's a lot of stamps 😊
Trump should ask her for a copy that he can use at a later date.

yes, this whole RICO case is a hub and spoke with Trump and Meadows at the centre. The more people in the spokes flip the better chance of a conviction at the hub. Shame the Cheese & Kraken case will not take place 😀

In the nyc civil fraud case, Trump got a gagging order and was ordered to remove a defamatory post about a court clerk. But the post remained online for 17 days. The judge is considering sanctions, including prison.

Trump is reportedly terrified of prison (not unreasonable, I suppose). A few days banged up on contempt might persuade him that any deal that keeps him out is worth taking...or it might lead him to think that anything is better than being found guilty.

Slowly slowly catchy monkey.
Judge sets out ground rules and warns of consequences if ground rules breached.
Breach results in limited gag order.
Non compliance with instruction to fully take down post results in small fine.
trump will see this as inconsequential.
Next infraction will, IMO, result in him getting hammered

^That's pretty much how I see it..

Basicaly taken all and any excuses away without handing him ammo.

Well you did it once and were warned, you did it twice and then fined...there's no way anyone can claim 'accident or oversight' a third time, quite the opposite, it would prove that the orders are being willfully ingnored.

This one belongs in the 'shit you couldn't make up' column...trump, at a campaign rally in NH, compares himself to Nelson Mandela.
In other news...he is expected to be in NY court today when Michael Cohen testifies against him; should see the orange one's full range of facial expressions accompanied by head shaking, muttering and whispering to lawyers.
If he talks to the press before and/or after today's session that will, I'm sure, be...amusing.

Some of the stuff coming out of his mouth makes me think he is going down the diminished responsibility route. Even by his low standards

1. He is actually off his tits on pain meds

2. He is clearly a lot smarter than he wants us to believe.

3. Bloke is a total bell end and very dangerous to the stability of the US and wider region.

4 Russian plant.

No 2 admittedly a struggle for me

Not skin colour or being beaten up by police.
Nah, comparison he was making was...jail time on trumped up charges - released and pardoned - elected to high office where he worked tirelessly for justice, fairness and racial equality.
Yep, the very qualities which define trump.

Soon after her court appearance we should expect trump to say, same as he did with powell, in disclaiming her...never part if the team, any involvement she may have had was peripheral etc etc.

In other news, in the election subversion case trump's lawyers have filed a series if appeals to get the case dismissed; more long shots, I think, or in US terms...hail marys.
Seems to me the pressure is getting to trump - how wonderful.

^^^ this is basically it.

The base of lunatics is enough to get him the republican endorsement, but it is nowhere near enough to get him elected as president again.

Biden actually beat him handsomely in the end, and remember he actually polled less votes than Clinton in 2016.

The US economy has doing Ok, so there is no stick to beat Biden with apart from age and his son.

He's not ever going to jail. As ex-pres he's the right to security protection for the rest of his life. I think the worst would be home arrrest at Mar A Lago (or Trump tower or wherever) which doesn't really sound that terrible. I'd still love that to happen and the judge to force him to wear the orange jumpsuit 24/7 regardless but I think thats as close to a comeuppance that he'll get. Apart from going bankrupt/having to admit he's only worth 10 dollars and three cents after all

Anywhere is a prison if you can't leave. Remember at the start if Covid when there were those folk who couldn't get off their cruise ships - they weren't all that happy about their holiday being extended indefinitely.

Security for protection for the rest of his life is part of the package of being president - not sure if its a 'right' though of just a courtesy. It has been recent tradition to provide that (all American traditions are recent really) but I don't know if its enshrined in law or that its irrevocable.

When you look at the resources that security involves it's not just a few men in suits talking into their wrists - on the first day Trump attended court in New York there were 37,000 additional police on the streets. Becuase of his inflammatory behaviour Trump as an ex-pres is extremely high mainencene, not becuase of any risk he faces but becuase of the risk he presents. I don't think theres any contradiction involved in both imprisoning him and providing him with security though - it would be a much easier place to ensure he's safe and that everyone else is safer.

Not quite - there are only 36,000 NYPD to begin with! NYPD said that almost everyone was "on standby".

donny has just copped a further fine from Judge Engoron - $10,000 this time after the judge put him on the stand to explain further (apparent) criticism of court staff.
After that the odious orange one 'stormed out of court' in a huff.
The judge also denied some further attempted legal manoeuvring by team trump.
Oh what fun!

I read an article a while back about how someone like Trump might be incarcerated. I think it speculated that while he wouldn't go to a regular prison, there were military bases or something like that where he could be detained. It wouldn't be like being in a regular prison but I think it sounded like it wouldn't be like being confined to Mar-a-Lago either.

First fine $5k, second fine 10k; if fines double for each breach of the gag order - 6 more breaches and the cumulative will be $1.275 million.
I still think the judge will rapidly tire of trump and a suspended sentence isn't far away so...another breach after that and I'll remove the suspended bit.
