We have had a note pinned up on a board on the local Common, saying that two dogs that regularly get walked there, have died from the above.
We'd never heard of it, but further investigation has found that there have been dog deaths all over the place from the New Forest to Cheshire. Sounds like the best prevention is not walking them in muddy woodland.
Anyone had any experience?

No experience, but remember seeing signs up at the New Forest a couple of years back.
