Dog running free on the road in imminent danger of being flattened at any moment. Being a good citizen I caught it. Know of the owner as she walks up on my current site. Dog didn't like being caught/held down and spun on its collar and bit me. Puncture wound just up from wrist. Minor a and e or good clean and wait for the foaming mouth? Aches like a bastard. Must be good fun when one of those police dogs have you ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Is Dog Aids a thing?

I'd go to a minor injuries clinic, even small animal and human bites can get nasty. Worth getting it cleaned properly and having them make an informed decision on shots.

You need to take the dog with you so they can get the right antivenom.

The big risk is infection, so clean the wound as much as possible. Go to a chemist and get stuff if you don't have first aid kit.

The ache will be from the pressure of the bite, expect some swelling.

If you go to A&E they will clean and dress only, not close the wound.

I am not a nurse or doctor.

Pfft! Was the dog even Catholic?

I'm also pretty sure you're supposed to stick a finger up the dogs arse or something.

Post pictures.

Most people would need that pointed out to them, but you are clearly a connoisseur.

Minor injuries, How long is it since you had anti-tetanus jag? Then pop round to the owner with the mutt and the claim details from ambulancechasers4u

I got bitten by lassie on the knee after I tried to catch it for its owner after being ****ted by a van.
It had to go between me and a wall, so bit me and carried on. Bastard.
Drop in centre next day for a tetanus injection and check the wound was clean.

Happened to me last year, went to NHS walk in centre, nurse gave me antibiotics to take for a week or so.

You don't know what the dog has been eating etc, no.2/rabbits/whatever and so could get all sorts of infections if it has broken your skin.

Don't you need a tetanus booster every 10 years or so?

NB There is no jab for Cat Aids (the bad type), you'll just have to managed the condition.

I got nipped by a traveller's dog a few years ago when I MTB'd past their camp. It was just 2 puncture wounds on my calf.

I called NHS Direct (now I guess you'd just call 111) and they sorted me out an appointment with my local minor injuries clinic. The wound got cleaned, and I was given a course of antibiotics.

So yes - I think you should get it looked at.

Yea but that was a traveller's dog

Which route to take depends on the income tax bracket of the owner as far as I'm aware.
