got a really sore throat..whats good for it?

Paracetamol and Iburufen if you are Ok to take it.

lots of fluids, paracetamol and something like nurofen if you can take them OK
nothing [i]really[/i] helps - sprays like difflam or chloraseptic might ease it for a bit but you're left with a foul tasting sore throat when they wear off (IME). some people swear by gargled aspirin but I'd be surprised if it actually works better than nurofen or plain swallowed aspirin
man up, get the brandy/ribena/honey toddies going and sit it out

A punch to the throat from a 2 year old really takes your mind off it.

Dispersable aspirin. Gargle with it. Works almost instantly.
