Alcohol, obviously. Just wondering like.
Yes
But not compared to many - I average about 10 pints a week.
between 8 to 10 pints a week. so no!
No. Does that help?
Wha ah yowww trying to shay, Eh?
(yes)
Only in the evenings.
1 beer in the last 3 weeks, so no. I'm on holiday soon though so the numbers might change. 😀
Five units a week would be a heavy week.
Five units a week would be a heavy week.
+1!
between 8 to 10 pints a week. so [s]no[/s] yes!
FTFY...
I don't, rarely more than a couple of glasses of wine or a pint or two a week, often go months without anything.
I used to.
Managed to get a grip before any really serious damage was caused.
Enjoy the odd (drank about 2 bottles this year) whisky now.
Probably 2-4 pints and a bottle of wine a week....so yeah, 5 units like all the athletes above. 🙂
whash it to you pal? hic
define too much. Normal week no I don't, some weeks nothing some weeks 2-4 units, but on the odd occasion I go out it would be classed as binge drinking (>8units) so probably yeah.
Currently, yes. About 3-4 pints a night watching the WC.
*does math*
*apologises to liver*
Probably....
I average about 10 pints a week.
Seriously? That's a lot!
Couple of bottles, share some wine with the lady. Not much at all , me.
Not sure. I very rarely have just a pint in an evening or something, maybe a pint after a summer ride or something but usually I'd rather not bother unless my plan is to get pissed. If I'm on a night out I will tend to get absolutely slaughtered though, drinking way too much. Binge drinking in other words. So I dunno. I usually go out once every 2-3 weeks.
njee20......21 units=10 pints.....so no!!
ere, are you looking at my pint?
1 or 2 units a month so probably not, kind of given up on drinking tbh, like a nice glass of wine but don't want open bottles at home as i would never finish them and end up down the sink...
Day to day, I don't drink. Quite often I won't drink for several weeks.
However, when I do drink, I get pissed. Typical binge drinker me. 😀
define too much
That's what I'm interested to hear, what people define as too much.
I average about 10 pints a week.Seriously? That's a lot!
Not really. Probably still within the "safe" limit.
I was at the docs a while back and was asked how much I drank. Said that it varied from a couple of drinks at the weekend, to a glass of wine every night. I expected the "glass of wine every night" to raise an eyebrow, but she said that wasn't an issue at all and unlikely to cause any harm.
I've gone through periods of a few months without touching alcohol, and period where i've had a glass of wine every night, but haven't noticed any difference whatsoever to my health/fitness. Although I do tend to sleep a bit better without having had anything to drink, so I suspect that counts as it affecting my health.
There's a girl at work who goes on about how unhealthy it is to drink alcohol, even in moderation. Mildly amusing getting a healthy living lecture from 4'11" woman who weighs 20 stone 🙂
Yes, I do. If we're looking at what the health nazi's dictate we should and shouldn't be doing. I have a few beers most evenings. We're partial to nipping to the pub after work. All very civilised. It's not sitting drinking white lightning and shouting at buses!
And 10 pints a week really isn't a lot. Unless it's whiskey you're talking about 😀
njee20......21 units=10 pints.....so no!!
1) just because you happen to be absolutely smack on the upper limit of what it a recommended maximum doesn't mean it's not too much.
2) it depends what you drink, Carlsberg is 2.2 units/pint, so 22, 2.8 in Guinness so 28, few beers are actually 2.1 units/pint.
That's what I'm interested to hear, what people define as too much.
Duh, anyone who drinks more than you! In similar vain, anyone who drives faster than you is a maniac, and anyone slower is a moron.
0-5 units in summer per week.
0-2 in winter depending if we eat out.
currently 15-20 per week to help with the pain
Tomorrow 30-50 per week as off to Morzine 🙂
Yorkshire blonde at 3.2 is in the safe limit............. 😆
Too much would be any amount that affected what I needed to do the following morning. Sat am is a usual early ride, so no more than 2 glasses of wine on fri ev, or I've lost my riding slot. Same again for the odd sat ev if I want the early sunday slot.
But 3 pints at a midweek pta meeting is fine as don't need to be up until 7am midweek.
So its self-regulating really. If I want to get some weekend rides in, then I'm not drinking much.
Yes, definitely far too much. I have a drink most nights, 3 or 4 bottles of ale/imported lager. Go down the pub about 1/maybe 2 times a week too where it's rare to drink less than 4-5 pints. So a normal week will be about 40-ish units. A heavy week, best not go there, although they are few and far between these days as I don't drink to get wasted any more, it's more of a winding down/social thing now.
Like I said, far too much.
Not a single unit it the last 3 years.
It makes me do regrettable things.
Yes I probably do - can drink on most nights but try to avoid it during the week - around 3 or 4 tins of premium lager.
But then again, I enjoy it and don't 'get pissed', just enjoy having a few drinks whilst cooking dinner for my wife.
one for all the Leeds beer lovers, cycling and beer combined.

Seriously? That's a lot!
See - it's subjective!
My main problem with drink is the way I feel the next day(s). I can go on a social night with friends, drink 6 pints and still hold a coherent conversation and not be rolling on the floor.
Trouble is it then takes me a full day (or more) until feel 'normal' again.
Only when I get the chance and never before 10am!
njee - up here we don't drink lager!
Interestingly (to me at least) the Govt max figures were literally made up with no scientific research input whatsoever.
According to them, I drink too much.
Jamie - Freeloader! But we still like him
Currently, yes. About 3-4 pints a night watching the WC.
Now I have a designer toilet but yours must be super cool.
On the other hand, Mrs Daz's alcoholic clients at the drug service get through 8 litres of industrial white cider per day, so there's a fair way to go before I get to extreme levels.
I couldn't even fit 6 pints in these days! Let alone recover the day after.
Thread was prompted after a particularly heavy weekend (40ish units). I tend to either drink just the one, or 12. Rarely pints, mostly cocktails (hark at me...). Interesting to see how many drink so often during the week.
Actually in the last 3 nights I have had 10 pints and a bottle of wine.
This is not usual, and I am feeling it.
Have 1-2 glasses of wine most evenings and 2-3 at the weekend...
I drink about 4 pints a year. Usually two lots of two.
I am probably safe in the drinking stakes
