I just had a phone call from paypal asking to confirm my email address and then confirm I bought a certain item, he new the price. No asking for passwords etc.
Is this normal?

It's the sort of thing a bank or credit card might do, to prevent fraud. Do PayPal have a phone number you can ring them on to check?
