Seeing all  the nutters lined up with the main politicians made me wonder the above.

I believe the Dutch do in a slightly different way (put down novelty endorsement candidates on the party lists, but far enough down that they won’t get elected)

Also, I have a vague memory of a Rhinoceros Party in Canada

You're forgetting the third horse in that race - RFK - does it get much more novel than a geriatric bodybuilder with worms in his brain and a voice that  sounds like he's sitting on a spin drier?

Zelenski was a comedian before becoming president (playing the president in a TV show), I am pretty sure his initial entry into politics was satire, but the thing took off in a different direction.
