Just been announced on Radio X that David Bowie has died. He's been suffering with cancer.
An absolute legend and the biggest influence on my musical tastes over the years.
😥
Just caught that elsewhere. Not a great age.
Blimey. 😥
Noooo!
Another gone too soon
Yes shocked
RIB. Starman
Just caught it on the news. I vaguely knew he'd been fighting cancer but after the album release only a few days ago it's a real shock. RIP
I really can't believe it. How sad. I was listening to Blackstar with my 8 year old daughter yesterday. When I told her he had been a pop star for nearly 50 years she couldn't believe it. She said he sounded really young. I think that kind of sums him up for me.
A hell of a shock, an incredible talent.
Shit, RIP Bowie
Bloody hell that has shocked me, I was not his greatest fan but the man was a legend and a lot of his songs were the soundtrack of my teens.
RIP
Just been woken up to the news, so very sad, and a real shock. RIP David.
It's an often overused term but Bowie was, without a doubt, an absolute legend.
An I ncredible artist the likes of which we'll never see again.
Shocked to hear that on R4. Ironically I'd never been a fan until hearing his very latest work!
A hell of a career and quite a legacy.
But I can't say I was a huge fan, not least because I tweeted this yesterday:
AAAAARGH!! @BBC6Music playing David bloody Bowie again. Please stop it. Please, please, please. I can't take it any more AAAAARGH!
I didn't mean for them to take me so literally.... RIP
😥
Sad news but what a line up God is putting together...
RIP Mr Bowie
AAAAARGH!! @BBC6Music playing David bloody Bowie again. Please stop it. Please, please, please. I can't take it any more AAAAARGH!
I've noticed a lot of his stuff being played recently. Wonder if people in the biz knew the end was near.
Godspeed Major Tom .....
There's a star man, sitting in the sky....
A big part of my youth gone, very sad.
Nothing to say, gone but never forgotten.
A total shocK. One of my favourite artists, RIP
Legend, quite a shock, always thought he'd go on forever.
Shocking news. His music wasn't always my cup of tea but he was hugely creative and influential.
Gutting. One extremely cool dude who I thought would just always be around.
So very very sad.
Sad sad news.
it'll be all quiet in the Roxy Room at Pips now (showing my age there).
bugger.
Off to play Heroes and Sound & Vision on loop for the rest of the day.
It'll be a quiet, introspective day here.
Massively influential to me, and we've lost a very important artist.
God bless, and thank you, thin white Duke.
Very sad news, I sat and listened to the Ziggy and Aladin Sane lps yesterday as well, more today now. This straight after Lemmy as well.
It's sad. But it's mental that this is the "main news" on R4 Today and they're reading out Joel Madden and Russell Crowe's RIP tweets ffs.
konabunny - not the time or the thread.
Sad news indeed.
A key figure in the music industry for sure.
Shocked & saddened - a great loss.
RIP 🙁
Just heard. 69 is no age at all. Haven't even got round to listening to Blackstar yet!!
terrible news
Can't say I was a fan of his music but he was obviously a very influential and talented guy sad day for his family and fans.
A musical genius.
RIP.

POSTED 5 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST
🙄
Very sad and shocking news, I only heard about ten minutes ago. I've been listening to a lot of his stuff lately too.
My heroes are dying , I feel old.
not a bad acting cv either
69 🙁
A musical and style genius, genuinely ahead of his time.
RIP
RIP David Bowie. Not a great fan of his music but I can appreciate his talebnt. I always remember his slot on Extras. 'Chubby little loser with the pug nose'
As others have said, not my taste musically but a wide ranging talent over a long period of time.
One of the few who seemed to conquer his demons without compromising his creativity. Kick off your red shoes and dance the blues.
I can only remember two of his songs 'Ziggy Stardust' and 'Let's Dance' beyond that nothing as I have given up music many years ago.
Anyway, RIP you have achieved all you need in life so it's time to get Ziggy back to the Stardust and let's dance to that.
