I'm putting together my CV and have realised that having worked with areas of the military and MoD that there are loads of acronyms and abbreviations to be included. Normally I'd spell everything out, but that's going to take up a lot of space. Hopefully things like RAF and MoD are obvious enough so don't need expanding. Some are in common use within MoD but I'm not sure an agency would know what they meant. I was wondering about footnotes for the really long ones.
When I'm writting a CV targetted at a specific job, I was thinking that if their job description uses just an acronym it's fine to do the same in my CV.
What would you do?
Thanks
If it's specific to the industry you're applying for then you can reasonably expect them to know - especially if they use it themselves. Otherwise, write it in full the first time, put the abbreviation in brackets afterwards and then use the abbreviation thereafter.

+1 for Clubber's advice above. Spot on.
reasonably expect them to know
The problem is that there are so many! Defence is so broad that in some areas they will be obvious but not in others. Also some will have multiple meanings. Working out what is 'reasonable' isn't easy, so my instinct is to do what you say Clubber for every acronym, but this will take up lots of space. Are footnotes a no for CVs?
WoMD?
And now new ones are being made up for things that didn't exist!!!!

I know, it's a nightmare working out what everything means!
