[#1950023]

Need to install 3m of covered drain on account of recent flooding. Man with van has quoted me £400 to do the job.

The drain pack will cost about £50 and materials (mortar etc) about another £50. Man with van says he will have to lift slabs. I thought this could be done in situ (but what do I know I read the Guardian)

So £300 to hire or buy some kind of cutting device, blades and some kind of face visor?

Should I hand over cash and retreat to my shed?

PS this thread is unrelated to any previous and is not submissible in any future legal proceeedings.

As I said to a friend that borrowed my cut-off saw, "be careful, this doesn't cut you - it cuts things off"...

I got some slab cutters and with a bit of elbow grease, did my own. Just be careful not to crack any though...

Not sure if this is the thing you refer to but its a tad more expensive to hire £100.

It looks very dangerous but exciting at same time.

You'll probably have to pay a bit for the blade use as well. And some 2 stroke premix.

I have one and it's an awesome bit of kit. Brrrmmmmm brrrmmmmm!!!

Or a cold chisel and some careful scribing/cutting.
