Need to buy one this week for an estate car. Dog/muddy bike proof. Any good value sellers other than what Google's throwing at me?

Go to hatchbag.co.uk and type in your model of car. I have one for our BM 3 series Touring and its brilliant. Also bought dad one for his Mini Cooper S.
Completely custom made to order, very durable and ideal for wet dogs.

Did anyone else think he was asking about insoles for shoes to carry his dog with?

Yeah, looks like anything worth getting is going to cost a ton. I'm liking the rigidity of the boot buddy. How does it come out for storage or do you just leave it in there all the time headfirst?

Ah **** you Mat. I had almost decided on Boot-Buddy, and now I'm stuck between the two again. 😕

I've had a couple of hatchbag ones and they have been good.

A hundred quid? 😯

I don't have a dog so perhaps I'm not best positioned to comment, but what does that give you over a five quid Gellert ground sheet? Or in fact, twenty of them?

Another happy Hatchbag customer here, but not a patch on the old Volvo moulded plastic liner. The boot buddy looks like less of a faff to fit though with the rigid panels.

Have a look at 'overthetop' textiles. They do a range of stuff that does a brilliant job (especially the quilted mat) - expensive but we've got three mats that are over 15 years old and look like new...... Money very well spent.

When I bought my Focus estate, I went on ebay and found a massive bolt of darkroom cloth.

It adapts to the shape of the boot - all seats down, two bikes and the dog and it extends all the way from the boot door to the front seats, doubled up.

Back seats in 'normal' position and dog in boot, the cloth folds up to keep the mud off the carpet.

Cost me £20 + £8 delivery.

A bit of a thread resurrection, but I'm feeling the need to justify myself:

Frank and Dolly are two big dogs who love getting wet and muddy and so rather stinky too. For their 'big walk' they get driven up to some fields where they can have a good run around (in a very well behaved manner before anyone starts!) With our previous car we had a tarpaulin we would put across the boot when they were mucky but it invariably got scrumpled up in the corner pretty quickly. Over time the car had a permanent whiff of dog about it which my teenage girls found rather embarrassing when we gave their friends lifts.
When we got the current car, the 'poshest' car I've ever owned I bought the boot buddy. We've had it two years now and no hint of dog smell or dog hair in the car at all. It also folds down along with the seats so I can get my bikes in too without any problem.

It stays in the car all the time, all I need to do is occasionally take out the rubber mat and shake of the dried up mud which has turned to dust. It will more than pay for itself in keeping the resale/trade-in price of my car that bit higher than without.

HTH 🙂
