[#13532119]

Am looking for a suspension seatpost for my wife's hybrid. The USE vybe on her HT mtb is great but I can't justify a £180 post on a £500 bike that is only used on cycle paths. I came across the Cube RFR https://www.cube.eu/uk-en/rfr-suspension-seatpost-60-90kg/13484which looks like it may do the job but there are very few reviews - anyone used one?

I haven’t used that seatpost, but between my wife and i we have had 7 cube bikes over the years, and would genuinely struggle to find anything actually bad about any of them.
Even the budget parts work absolutely fine.
so if you’re happy with the price of it, then it will most likely be fine.

I've not idea about the Cube one but I'm sure it would be decent enough. Going by the Cube specs. I assume you need a 31.6mm, however you could shim a 27.2mm one, Merlin have this one with a good mark down, but again I've no idea how effective it'd be.

What length are you after? Presumably the  parallelogram type could be cut down somewhat?

350/380mm - TBH I'll probably just end up buying another USE post (bought a used one to tried but that didn't work out) - the parallelogram ones are a lot heavier

@stevemorg2 apologies for jumping on a thread you created.. I'm not a paid member of the forum, it's been so long since I used it that I didn't even know this was now a thing. Because I'm not a paid member, I'm not allowed to send any more messages today... So if you think we can make it work today about these wheels, could you maybe drop me a number or email so we can try and arrange. Cheers.

Cube stuff is great, but I’d avoid any telescoping suspension seatpost.

theyre never efficient at absorbing bumps.

the smart moneys on the well-received sun tour suspension seatpost

https://amzn.eu/d/0hoGGoi

can be found for much cheaper.

Only experience is with the USE post, and i got rid of because(admittedly the gold ti oxide coated version, was it kept slipping, which i put down to the slippery coating.

Its the 'thunk thunk thunk' of it in use seem to tap it down.

So whichever you buy, make sure your seatclamp is tight.
