Listening to Stuart Maconie on 6 just now he's just played under the radar 80s choon Ellovee-ee by Tony Sherman and had me going "what IS that?"
Of course, it soon hit me that it was the theme to The Really Wild Show, Terry Nutkins, Chris Packham and the luvverly Michaela Strachan's BBC tea time treat.
And it got me thinking there must be more. There is the "It'll Never Work!" theme too...
which is of course Depeche Mode's People Are People.

I seem to be the only person on the planet who recognises Elbow's 'One Day Like This' as the theme to Dogtanian and the Three Muskahounds.
Yo Gabba Gabba used to have proper bands write little musical ditties for the show. My fave was probably Rocket From The Crypts" He's A Chef".

I didn't make the connection until rehearing it on your link, but it's also either been sampled or ripped off by Uptown Funk.

The TV show is unwatchable now but Waylon Jennings is hard to top for a theme song.
Back when childhood illnesses were treated with pharmacy grade cellophane wrapped lucazade, daytime tv and a duvet on the sofa was when I used to watch Mr Rossi.
the only thing I remember about it was the cool intro and outro music that seemed to be better and longer the the programme itself
A pal has an LP that has the theme song repeated a dozen or so time in each language it was syndicated in. Can think of many other album releases there will have been with only one song repeated on both sides

The Dreamstone theme is amazing.
And, did anyone else see "Hobo With A Shotgun"? The end credit music was Run With Us from the Raccoons and it's still fantastic
So, while this is nice, almost NONE of the above are proper songs i.e. released songs used on kids TV themes.
You just can't get the staff these days...

I'm surprised we've got this far without the Monkees. The theme wasn't bad and Pleasant Valley Sunday and Last Train to Clarksville excellent.
Most TV theme tunes are released as library music, so it's all good afaic.
Recorded in Munich in 1975, this tune is pretty iconic if you watched children's telly in the late 70's and throughout the 80's. Hawkshaw's music was everywhere on TV (and still is in some cases IE: Countdown!)
