[#6629498]

Recently picked up a nice Stumpy frame off Ebay and all going well until the date I expect it to be delivered goes by without anything turning up.
3 days later I have a message from the seller saying they have been notified that the frame has been delivered but you can guess that I haven't seen it. I was in all day on the day and no card or anything left to say delivery was attempted.
The seller supplied the tracking number and can verify according to the courier website it shows Parcel Delivered in the afternoon that day. I call BS and tell the seller, also check round with neighbours just in case it has gone to the wrong house number with no luck.
So now I have the situation where the seller is being told by the couriers that they have definitely delivered it to the correct address, the seller has my money and its my word against his evidence as far as getting my money back. Looking at the Ebay protection it appears that as the item was under £750 in value a proof of delivery isn't needed just the tracking detail which of course shows it as delivered successfully.
I personally am very suspicious that the courier driver or someone at the depot has identified the parcel and just marked it up as delivered and then left it in the back of the van for later.
Am I up the famous water course with no propulsive device ?

Did you pay by paypal?

If so call them or email them and let them know the situation and their opinion. I have raised an issue with them before and they were amazing.

Contact Police and inform them of a theft or ask them for their opinion on what you should do as believe it has been taken by person/s unknown. It may have been delivered to the wrong property but that is not your issue. If someone else has your property it is theft regardless of how they came by it.

Doing the above will show your serious about it not arriving. The courier should be responsible and should have to prove delivery as you are disputing it.

A well known courier (stuff it...Hermes) stated that a parcel had been delivered and left in the porch. We don't have a porch. I had tracked it online and got my neighbour to check. It had been stuffed behind the bin and was lashing it down. Luckily caught it before it got damaged.

Thanks Kip - luckily I did pay through Paypal so will get in touch with them. I'll see where that goes before getting the police involved but you are right it is a theft - someone somewhere either saw it in transit and took it or got a nice free parcel turn up at their door and was dishonest enough to sign for it. The driver just pushes a button on the scanner thing and beep - computer says delivered correctly. Funny you should mention Hermes .... 👿

Seems a bit odd that the seller contacted you like that regarding the delivery. From what you've written it comes across as a scam.

What courier did they use? I'd be asking for a copy of the delivery record to see signatures etc as a starting point

Hermes lost my frame. Made it 1 mile from my house. How can you miss place a bike box in about 1 hour is beyond me.

Good luck on this. I'd love to know how it turns out especially as more Ebayers are using other parcel companies and I'm getting the impression that your rights are not as good as with the bigger companies.

I work for Parcelforce the scanners most companies use when signature taken it logs gps location on system too so they should be able to check where it was delievered unless it was done signing paper

Has the seller actually supplied you with the tracking number so you can check online yourself...

Interesting the scanner has GPS makes sense really but the seller has had Hermes trace the delivery and they confirm it was correctly delivered to my address. I guess the driver could just roll up outside press the button then drive off with my frame though ?
It could be a scam - the tracking I can access does show the parcel in transit and the seller has been very helpful so far but all I have to go on is a tracking number. This doesn't show me anything as the major problem I have in trying to get anywhere with this is that I am the recipient and Hermes won't discuss the delivery details due to contractual reasons as I was told on a LiveChat with them earlier tonight.

Like dvatcmark, I'm curious as to why the seller contacted you to confirm delivery. Had you already contacted them previous to that to say you hadn't received the frame?

Ask to see a copy of the signature from delivery, if it's not yours or a family member then I'd imagine you have a stronger case for non-delivery. I take it you didn't leave any instructions to leave with a neighbour etc?

Ring up pretending to be the poster or do live chat . When my frame went missing I gave the buyer the log in details so he could check. If the seller has nothing to hide no problems.

I had this a few weeks ago. Hermes said it had been correctly and delivered and signed for, buyer hadn't received it. Hermes opened an investigation and couldn't track it down (even though they claimed it had been correctly delivered and signed for) and suggested I raise a claim. Luckily the buyer found his next door neighbour had it... They are shite. I will not use again. Cheap for a reason.

Some good thoughts - thanks all. I need to see the proof of delivery with who actually signed for it (if anyone) and more than the Parcel Dropped Off, Parcel in Depot, Parcel Out for Delivery crap from Hermes website which the seller should be able to get on my behalf. Helps to hear from others as right now I am totally ****ed off by the whole computer says no nonsense of it all - "The system says it's been delivered so it it must have been and you Sir are a liar claiming otherwise." Grrrrrr !

I've heard of folk posting empty boxes just to get a tracking no & "proof" of a delivery. And the likes of Hermes never check that parcels match the details entered as it's usually dropped off at a corner shop etc.
Did the seller use one of these drop off points...?
Could they be in on it...?
I'm always wary of handing over parcels at some of these places

It could also be something simple like it's been misaddressed. I've had a bike delivered to a house down the street, no 12 rather than 22.

Did the seller not provide a clickable tracking number via ebay? I use Parcelforce for frames but Hermes for cheaper bulky(ish) items like tyres, bars, etc and always update my ebay account with tracking info as well as sending buyers a separate message with a tracking link and photo of the parcel.

Hope it turns up.

I had a customer ring me to say her parcel was at the wrong address. I checked with Hermes, they said it was correct. The place it was delivered to was 2 miles down the road and had traced my customer and phoned her directly. After another call to Hermed they admitted it was incorrect and picked it up and redelivered it.
Even if the sender didn't ask for a signature, the driver still gets one and they do have gps.
However, the sender can also state a "safe place" to deliver to if the receiver is not in.

In response to some people saying why did seller contact regarding delivery. When i post anything expensive or large i keep tabs on where it is in the system and notify the seller when i know its been delivered normally saying any problems let me know. So it may not be as sinister in that sense as some seem to think

Theycan only do that if the recipient tells them of a safe place, surely.

knock your neighbours door, see if the house with the same number one road over have had a mystery delivery... They're pretty much all a shambles these days IME.

What I also find is Stuff that comes to my house (normally there's someone in at ours) regularly ends up next door or at a sorting office, stuff that I order to to work (with a proper business address) always seems to arrive without issue, funny that...

Just had a parcel delivered by a neighbour from 4 doors down. Courier came to house, no one in or at neighbours. Driver knew the neighbour and delivered it at his workplace for him to bring home and then drop in here.
Driver left a card saying no one in.
